The Wii - Madden selling Twice as much on Nintendo's new system

Madden has always sold less on Nintendo consoles since the N64. All sports games have in fact sold better on Nintendo's competitors' consoles.

Even with the recent news it seems that not even motions controls on the Wii can attract people to buy mainstream sports titles.

Or not. Sales for Madden 06 and 07 were 420K and 460K respectively on the Gamecube. Less than stellar compared to the competition.

Madden 08 on the Wii has sold 800K so far. The first month sales of Madden 09 for the Wii has already passed the quarter million sales mark totaling 270,000 units sold.

A 100% increase in sales one year then crossing 250,000 in one month doesn't seem that inhospitable to me.

Next step:

If Dead Rising on Wii sells well, I wouldn't be surprised to see RE5 hit the system next year too.

What are your thoughts on third party support for the Wii?

EA is back to making good shit, and from videos, it seems like Capcom might make 100 zombies on screen, and Re4Wii achieved expectations for Capcom, so we just have to see what DR:CTYD will do. I have a sense it'll sell t well.

I really want Valve to make a Wii game.

I really, REALLY want SSX4.

Honestly, RE5 would work awesomely on the Wii. They just need to put it in the RE4 engine. That engine looks absolutely amazing on any system, and I'd be fine if the game looked like that.

I still think they should make a "Wii HD" that operates like the Gameboy Color did to the Gameboy.

I think the wii is one of the first example of were it's appealing to double dip with multiplatform releases just because it can be such a different experience on the wii. That sid, please stop the quickie ports for the love of god.

Is the attach rate any higher? Nintendo has sold twice as many Wiis as Gamecubes, so naturally they'll sell more copies of Madden. If anything, Madden 08 for Wii is trailing the per console attach rate for the GC.

Yes the attach rate is about 25% higher. Total Wiis sold is not quite twice as many Cubes sold. Total Wiis sales are 75% more than Cube so far.

Wii sales - 32,136,115.

GC sales - 21,515,337.
