Noby Noby Boy: Where is Girl going?
necrozen | 1:35 AM on 02.20.2009 17 comments

If you haven't played Noby Noby Boy, you may want to step out, as we'll be discussing stuff that you'll
probably want to discover on your own.

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, I want to talk about the Girl character in Noby Noby Boy.

I should say, before we start, that I haven't researched anything on this game, so I may be completely wrong
or maybe I'm right, or maybe this is shit that people already know, but I was thinking about the girl character in
the game and where she is going.

The little fairy dude says that Girl is traveling to other planets, right? And she grows by adding up all the
growth of all the people who play the game, right? So I was wondering, what happens when she gets to a
new planet? I noticed that there is a "Visit Planet" section in the menu. Does this mean that, once we all work
together and get Girl to a new planet, we will get to visit the planet as well?

I may sound totally crazy, but I'm under the influence of no sleep, a fucked up game, and a number of other
things.

I was wondering what other people think about this. It seems that we, as players of the game, are headed in
a direction collectively, at least with our progress all adding up to a cumulative progress.

Am I totally crazy, or is there more to this than we see on day one?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Thank you for that first sentence. I won't read the blog until I play the game.

From what I understand, that all players' cumulative progress result in the Girl getting longer. The longer she gets, the more planets are unlocked for all players to explore.
ChronosWing's Destructoid Blog
What dimly said. It's a really unique mechanic, this game is probably meant to be played in short bursts, logging in every day to stretch noby out and eat shit, then check girl's progress.
Dan CiTi's Destructoid Blog
Yes, first she goes to the moon, then the other planets.

RTFM....geez....

But no srsly shes stretching to all the planets and i guess by everyone's stretchiness combined we'll inch our way to each?
Gantz's Destructoid Blog
I would imagine they made various stages based on each planet which we can visit once we collectively reach them.
fetusmilk's Destructoid Blog
if you goto http://o--o.jp/ there is a spot to click on that tells you how long girl has stretched so far.

its 384,403,000 meters to the moon from earth. we are getting close already.

I've gone on to a couple stages after the first, and I'm still having trouble stretching as much as I think I can. The stages seem too small and I always end up walking at least one of my ends off the edges while trying to stretch. Should I just keep skipping stages, do they get bigger? Or am I playing this thing wrong?
solidgoomba's Destructoid Blog
From what I've heard it's predicted that it'll take a week for us to get the moon. (Doesn't that just make you all warm and fuzzy inside, saying us, as in all the Noby Noby Boy players in the world?)

@ZombiePlatypus

So far the stages are the same size but that might change for other planets. You don't need to worry about stretching yourself out really far though, the game keeps track the cumulative length you've stretched. Aside from the trophy for stretching 100 meters there's no real need to stretch yourself out across the entire stage.

That's it, I'm going to play it now. I wasn't planning to play but taking about Boy and Girl makes me want to.

Best URL I've seen in years. Thanks Fetusmilk

Ah alright, I have been playing it wrong then. I've just been trying to get the Boy as long as possible. I won't worry about that then next time I play...
Primo's Destructoid Blog
I played last night, I was kind of drunk and pretty messed up in general. I still have no idea what to make of this game it's so ridiculously amazing.

Also, greatest URL ever.

@ GANTZ

I tied not to read too much of the manual because I wanted to sort of explore everything myself, so I only read as much as I needed to to play.

Besides, I can't RTFM, the Boy ate the fucking thing, lol.

@ FETUSMILK

That URL does rock.
necrozen's Destructoid Blog
So then I assumed correctly. Sorry, I was a bit "out of it" last night, you know how they say don't drink and drive. Well, don't noby noby and blog, lol.

Seriously though, now that it is morning and I have a clear brain, I totally get what is going on. Last night I was just really feeling the noby noby and I hardly read anything about it to start with so I basically made all my assumptions based on playing the game and looking at the menu. All of which could have been cleared up, had I just read the manual, but I think I had more fun letting it all dawn on me slowly.

Im in the midst of posting in the forums asking for help on HOW to play this game!

If anyone wants to help explain to me how to even get going (I read the entire manual) go to the forums please!!!!

 about me

Hi my name is Justin. Some peopel call me Jay. I'm a writer from Northern Ky who deals mostly in short fiction. I play video games when I should be doing my job, cleaning my pad or making dinner for my gf (we have classic role reversal issues wherein I take on the role of a 1950s housewife and she is something of a luchador ninja).

Right now I am mostly playing Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Ratchet and Clank Crack in Time, Half Minute Heroes, Loco Roco 2, Mass Effect on PC, Fuel, and that's all I can think of right now .

If you're up for some PS3 multiplayer add me.

About me?

OK, you want the quick version. Here you go: I just try to keep a good atmosphere and surround myself with people and things that I like. That's it really. Small aspiration I guess, but it suits me. I have my friends and my hobbies and the people I love. I try to keep them all in good space. I dig reading, writing, weird music, and old terrible movies that leave you feeling unfulfilled and violated. I'm a pagan who has spent the last 7 years of my life studying voodoo of all shapes and sizes from african diaspora to folk root to New Orleans mysticism etc.
