the good and bad of fable 2
n3rv3 | 10:40 PM on 11.05.2008 14 comments

first let me say I love fable 2 it's awesome.

good
1). the emotion is great
2). the dog it awesome
3). cut scenes don't take you out of it
4). monsters seem easier (balverines are way too easy)
5). the side quests are great
6). houses is fun to buy
7). the rent makes it easy to get gold
8). the fact that every place is for sale
10). gargoyles are so hilarious

bad
1). the dog makes treasure hunting too easy (especially dig spots)
2). the arena is too easy
3). short
4). the targeting on trolls is hard especially when there are other enemies
5). the glitches really suck
6). children are always following making it hard to do crime
7). rent money makes the game to easy to buy stuff
8). not enough demon doors
9). the fact that no one ages like you
10). lack of clothing ( why did all the villagers have clothing that wasn't on sale any where)

also
If I really had to review it I would have given it a 9
mainly because it was so fun I almost didn't notice most the glitches and guns make up for it any ways. seriously trolls suck I can't get the perfect time in the arena because that troll takes so long to target and then every time you aim for the back they turn around and you have to use the time distortion spell argh! finally one of the things the irked me was the fact you can't buy any of the villager apparel like top hats and other pieces of clothing.

final list
hype\ 7 (a little too hyped)
game play\ 10( it's so fun)
audio\ 6 (audio cuts in and out and once it stopped altogether)
graphics\ 8 (I liked the models from the first one better there also a lack of clothing)
story\ 8 (it is standard but it does things that the first fable failed at)
BUY It!

What about the neutral? Doesn't anyone care about the grey zone?!? I see you took Fable 2's murderer or saints only path on this blog.

WHY DOES EVERYONE SAY THE GAME IS TOO FUCKING SHORT???

The way I see it, Fable 2 is as long of a game as you want it to be. Shit, I spent around 30 hours with it. If the games length matters so much, don't rush through it. Geez.

"the glitches really suck"

Other than a couple graphical blips when exiting the blacksmithing minigame, I was lucky in this game that I didn't hit ANY gamebreaking glitches.

I'd like more description of those glitches that you actually encountered.

I'm having fun with this game. The monsters are very easy though, with one exception so far. That damn headless hollowman. He rammed that lightning spell up my B-hole and knocked me out 2-3 times before I finaaly got him.

I had a lot of fun with the game; but like everyone seems to be mentioning, the difficulty never quite ramps up. Once you spend about an hour (maybe less) doing some job, you can accumulate enough money to start your real estate empire, which just earns you money constantly. The enemies are predictable and are felled easily. I beat it twice already, and with so many new games coming out, I will probably just list on Goozex for a cool 1000 points.

@ atlas
atlas I am not a big fan of neutrality ever since the suffering ties that bind. being neutral never helped any one out. why would any one want to neutral.
@ skribble
there is a mission to plant a tree but it's not as interesting as peter molyneux said it was going to be.

I still haven't finished it but the main quest is really quick. I knew I was 3 quarters through the game so I started a lot of side missions, 3 families and I am almost finished most of the side quests. Sadly I haven't clocked in the same amount of time as I did with fable 1.

Just finished up the game earlier this afternoon, and I found it very enjoyable, and a pretty satisfying experience.

I'm still scratching my head about the motives of one character I came to trust (thanks to some hastily spoken cryptic words spoken at the end of my journey), but overall, Fable II was pretty much everything I wanted it to be.

It there weren't so many great games out right now, I'd replay through the whole thing again. For the moment, it will have to wait a bit.
