Persona 3 FES is one of the most addicting game that I have ever played. Not to mention that it's the first RPG that I've played. I've been into Action/Adventure and Shooter games, so I thought that I would give this one a try. And I love it! (I blame you for that Peter! LOL!) When I first started this game, I named the main charater Aaron. I got up to level 5 with him. One day, I thought it would be fun to start a second game. Kind of like a second playthrough. But I was playing both at the sametime. Why I did this, I'll never know. So the second game, I named him Link Knil (I thought it was funny!). I kept going with this game, completely forgetting about my first game. Here is how it stands with my charaters:
Aaron: Level 5
Gameplay Time: Approx. 3 hrs and 30 min
Link: Level 41
Gameplay Time: Approx. 40-42 hrs
Here's the no no:
Couple days ago, I desided to play my first game. Just for kicks and giggles. So there I am in Tartarus (which I agree with Junpei, it does sound like a toothpaste!), grinding away, trying to level up. I haven't even beaten the Boss on F10 yet. And it was 3 Dancing Hands. The first battle, I got my ass handed to me on a silver platter. Okay, let's try again.... Nope..... Okay, that hurt.... Third times the charm! I go back down to F1 and save at the clock, I don't want to that again! All was saved and I put the game down. Couple nights ago, I picked it up again to play Link's game. I was coming up to a Full Moon. Went to load the game and guess what I see.... 2 games with the name Aaron on it! OMG! I saved over my second game by accident! And now I have to start back at the beggining!
Moral of the story: Don't play 2 separate games of the same game at once! And if you do, make sure the saves are MILES away from each other!

And I'm almost to where Link is now, honestly. I'd really hate to lose my data at this point.
Anyway, I never EVER play two game save files at once. If I screw up something, which I did plenty of times in Persona 4, I just usually start over no matter where I'm at in the game. Since my PS2 crapped out on me long ago, I use my PS3 to play my PS2 games. Since their virtual memory card save system usually screws up and corrupts save files, or just plain out deletes them, I usually have two save files on the same game just in case something bad does happen (which usually does).
Playing through an RPG for the second time really is the worst. Especially because you DONT'T want to grind over again, and you end up missing a lot of side quests and stuff on the second time because you want to play through it fast.
Honestly, how often do Virtual Memory Cards corrupt? I keep hearing about that, and it's honestly never happened to me even one time, with any game. Is it more common on a certain model?
I'm not sure if it depends on the model, but more like chance and how many times you save at any given time. I've never had a real problem with corrupt save files or them being deleted from any other games than when I play Persona 3 and 4. With P3, I had maybe a couple of times where the file would be corrupt. No where near as P4 though. It may be that because I save so much. With P4, I can save maybe like 2-10 times per hour, depending on where I am on the story. When it does happen, it usually says "save failed" and in a real bad scenario, it deletes the whole file altogether.
I don't know if this may be your problem, but try saving the games to a new memory card if your current one is getting full. MGS3 started giving me issues but only after I had almost filled the card. I tried a new card and it worked fine. I don't know if that's the actual problem or not, but it could be.
@Scary Womanizing Pig Mask & F Whipple: Thanks for your condolences.
@MrSadistic: I can understand where you would get tartar sauce out of Tartarus, I still have to agree with Junpei.
@garison: First off! ZELDA RULES!!! Sorry, I had to get that out of my system. Second, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to get another memory card and back up my saves! And thirdly, I didn't mind grinding so much. I thought that it was fun. Although at times I do remember thinking 'Level UP already!" Now it's going to get a little more annoying because I know that I've done it before and I have to do this again....
@Everyone reading: Thanks for reading my rant! I really wanted to get that out!
*hugs* give the game a couple of months before you go back, that normally helps.
