About Me
Well, to start off with, I go by Munkee, friends gave me this nickname because of my love of climbing random things, from trees to a jungle gym, it hasnt mattered what it is. I also live in your closet, dont be scared, I' am not some creepy monster like the Boogeyman, haha, but I do own a house in Utah and California as well.
Second off, I love gaming (as you can see I have all 3 consoles), along with hanging out with friends, watching (and playing) sports, photography, writing, traveling, music, and going to haunted places.
I can usually be found out late at night doing something insanely fun, yet stupid. Overall I try to have fun with anything I do.
Please note as well, I am sarcastic as no other. That being said, This is the end of my writings, if you want to know more, add me on any of my systems or write me on here :) Im up for playing with anyone (Not like that you perverts!)
Talk to you all soon!

A Letter To Game Developers

Dear Game Developers,
While I appreciate all the wonderful games you have given me in the past (Assassins Creed, Borderlands, Call of Duty, Rock Band, ect), I am finding it more and more difficult to keep up with the game market. I believe I have done well (Xbox 360 collection alone is at 198 games, PS3 30, and Wii.. Well... 3) but I cannot keep up with a new sequel a year that is only 10 hours. It all feels rushed to just make a quick buck now.
While this saddens me, I have had to make cuts on the games I will buy new this year, and as much as I hate to say it, my list of Used Game purchases will be going up.
How can we fix this you may ask?
Well luckily I am a smart cookie, and realize a simple solution. That is to say, STOP! Lets take a breather and extend the life of the game, (and the series!) Lets focus on making a quality game rather than a game with a minor upgrade (Please note I do not want more "Madden's" floating around). Lets go back to when a game would take at least 20 hours, if not 30-40. While I enjoy multiplayer, I do not believe I will be deeply let down by the lack of a COD style every year that just changes the genre in a minor way (ohh Modern war! back to WWII (but wait Zombies must be included here!) and back to Modern war!)
I hope for the best on your endeavors, and hope that I may continue to support the great work you do, but just to be warned, continue on this path, and I will be forced to pay for only the best games new, and let the mediocre go to my used list.
---------------------------------
I know many other people feel this way. I just when through and made a list of games this year alone that I would like, and quite a few of them are just remakes, leading me to question the value of buying a game brand new, or waiting a month or 2 until its 30-40 bucks used.... We will see but i have a feeling it is just going to get worse as time goes alone.

Personally I loved what Insomniac did with the Ratchet and Clank series... they produced a full retail game (Tools of Destruction), then the next year they followed up with a small PSN interim game that was shorter and cheaper (Quest for Booty), and then the year after that (2009) they again came out with a full retail game (Crack in Time).

This formula allows for a longer dev cycle (every two years), but fans of the game can still get some form of content available to them via the shorter less expensive PSN game, and there were also some PSP handheld games.

I like the idea of using DLC as an option for those that want it and I think that sports games could learn a valued lesson on this. Release Madden every 2 or 3 years and just charge for a chunky DLC update each season.

COD... no hope. People seem to want a game every year. I have no idea why... it's really pretty much the same game with only minor changes. :(

I only buy a handful of full-priced releases a year... if a sequel doesn't bring anything to the table, I'm not getting it. If a game doesn't seem like it's got worthwhile replayability, I'm not getting it. Be picky and make every buck say something about the sort of games you want to see more of.

I buy a lot of used games at the price I think they are worth. To get me to pay full retail price you really have to be something special and worth that much money.

This is something my friends and I were talking about a couple weeks ago - there are TOO MANY desirable games coming out these days... we've all got growing backlogs of stuff we either bought and haven't played seriously, or couldn't afford from the get-go.

The huge RPG's and online action games save my ass, I can spend months without caring about what's coming out. Then I go on a used game binge for a couple months until the next big thing catches my fancy.

I don't think it has so much to do with length of a game, but how much attention to detail that goes into it. The Uncharted games have about a ten to twelve hour story arc but still have great stories, worth full price by my estimate as well. It is when developers push out a game in order to meet a deadline rather than when it is done that you get Madden or CoD.

I honestly wish they would SCALE back their games, they could cut the cost down, and it would probably benefit BOTH sides of the equation.

@ Elsa:

I wonder though, how many people outside of INFORMED gamers, really get into DLC, if at all?

So, you can't keep up with the plethora of games out there, but you also want said games to require more of your time?

@ ScottyG,
Pretty much I want the games to be worth it, cut back on the amount they come out, and then make it worth it by using that extra time to add more content.
Sadly it seems DLC (which I do love the idea of) to put what should have been in the original game, out on the market for a fee... Not everbody does this keep in mind. I just would like to see longer development cycles.
-------

On the side note, yes its great to be a gamer in this time when so many great games come out, but for the article Im just hoping one day to afford my hobby! lol

@PvPPY
Great Idea, I think I will start up this tactic.... Better to be involved with a game and not focus on ever game coming out and trying to dip my feet into them all.
