Alright to start this off we all know what I'm talking about here this whole love of the one console thing. Now here is the thing i too am a fan boy of what? yup sorry its the ps3 and why am i? because i follow where my favorite series of games are going and what is it well its final fantasy or generally anything squarish/rpgish so basically most of square/squeenix repertoire.
Whats my point about all this well, I'm not old enough to have started playing ff when 1 first came out but i have to use the reference. It first graced the world on the nes, next it was ffii on the famicom, ffiii famicom, ffiv snes, ffv super famicom, ffvi snes, ffvii ps1, ffviii ps1, ffix ps1, ffx ps2, ffxi pc/ps2/xbox360, ffxii ps2. Now their is a quick history and yes their is a point to this you see i started playing from the ff7 up, which meant after nine i migrated to ps2, now last Christmas i bought a ps3 and why did i do this because my prediction was that ffxiii would come to the ps3, in other words I'm a follower of the ff series not a fan boy of PlayStation so why the hell have i become one of those guys who protest the PlayStations greatness when i don't have a single square game and make excuses, when i still don't have a game to play on it bar my old ps2 tiles.
But hark whats this, the xbox 360 does have one lost odyssey and is that another on the horizon infinite undiscovery. Then we include star ocean and last remnant and now ffxiii it does well look like xbox360 is going to be the better option for me, true versus hasn't been confirmed for the 360 but we know better don't we. Now take in the back history of square and the new facts square knows the console it should be on it always has and as such will move to and fro as is seen between mobile phones, gba, ds and psp. So what do we fans do we follow them because a fan of a series doesn't follow one console it follows the consoles its told to get. So i can quite happily hang up my Sony #1 fan t-shirt and get an xbox360 because that is were square enix wants me to go.
Come on don't tell me you don't do the same you bought an xbox360 because you loved halo on the xbox and a ps3 because well..ummm..well you see..no i got nothing fine we'll give you metal gear but it still doesn't really count because it just came out.
So here's my conclusion after allot of unnecessary words. Fans of the ff series should realize that they are not ps3 fan boys. Build a bridge get over it and get an xbox360.
Don't get me wrong i still love my ps3 Sony does things right but without square its useless to me, I'm just saying that ff fans should no better, especially the older ones and i apologize everyone who has a psp and or Nintendo ds for ff and are complaining at this xbox ffxiii are just being hypocrites
like i said earlier build a bridge get over it get a 360
By the title I was expecting this to be a rant; but it ended up being an appeal to logic. My hat's off to you sir.
& yes you're right. I think the general animosity held by most fanboys is rooted in denial & spite. For whatever reason they don't tend to own multiple consoles (be it for lack of finances or general resentment/elitism). Like the fog of war, the fanboy mentality is too clouded to perceive clearly. Which is why I have to disagree w/ your initial statement. You are not a fanboy.
Every console sucks. Get used to it. Next gen consoles is a buzzword for failure. Epic failure.
And Mr. Sadistic probably loves you. (see what I did there?!?!)
Otherwise, welcome to D-toid. Most of the inhabitants are fanboys/girls of some form or another.
A lot of people find that they can't cross that bridge to another console like you're suggesting for whatever reason, whether it be financial or because they just don't like the other company. I know a few people who refuse to buy a 360 because of the RRoD.
I think that everyone is at least a closet fanboy. We all have our preferences but we are able to rationalize our thinking so that we aren't just whiny bitches. I myself own a 360 but I don't really like it but it has a lot of games that I want to play and so I find myself drawn to it.
@Everyone
Just love the console you want and be a fanboy that, like ANUS said, accepts that other people might actually like the console you don't, for what ever reason. Be rational, and respect other people's choices, and not one of the fanatic turds that pollute the gaming world.
I only own a ps3, but I am very happy with it, it does'nt make financial sense to plonk down the money for any other console, not when they are readily available at my mates houses.
Anyway, I rambled on too much, peace out.
Run-on sentences motherfucker, do you use them?
And I can't quite figure out what the hell you're talking about. So, because FFXIII is coming to 360, all PS3 fanboys should buy one? That doesn't make any sense. Or without one developer the PS3 is now useless? That doesn't make any sense either. A system is a system with it's flaws and strengths based on everything from first party to third party developers and one game going multi-platform shouldn't change your views. That's like saying that because Bioshock is coming to PS3 I should get rid of my 360.
It all really comes down to 1) how large the game ends up & 2) how flexible MS will be w/ their licensing fees. If they'll accommodate multiple DVDs like Lost Odyssey w/o cutting into dev profits. Or if they'll do like they're doing to Carmack w/ RAGE & try to fleece them for every DVD. DVD isn't a limitation if there's no limit on the number of DVDs (as the console's memory cant hold near the capacity of a disc at once anyway). So the limit is really in how much MS tries to charge in licensing & where the company making the game draws the line. I suspect MS is trying to play nice w/ Square given the number of titles they're agreed to put out on 360 & the weight their decisions hold in the industry.
@Mushman
What you're describing is fans. Fans like their favorite teams, ice creams, games, etc.. & they accept that other people may think differently. They'll debate them on the topic, but it's always in a respectful jovial manner. Like a yankees fan at a bar in boston for the world series.
Fanboys on the other hand are completely delusional & have their entire self worth devoted to an inanimate object. They will scream, curse, fight tooth & nail, insult, act paranoid, deny & tu quoque anything & everything anybody who doesn't agree 100% w/ them may say.
