Hey yall, within the last several months since I built my gaming pc, I've really fallen deep, DEEP into Fallout: New Vegas, mostly because of the joy I get from finding, tinkering, and playing with some killer mods that really make the game infinitely more enjoyable, re-playable and dynamic.

I want to turn this into a series of some sort and maybe expand later to other games like Skryim ( OMFGWTFBBBBQQSHITTTTTTT SO STOKED) when it comes out. 11.11.11 will be such an epic shitshow of a day for me, personally, that I'm not sure if my poor body will be able to endure the requisite ASSLOAD of hours I'm going to put into it. But I digress.

This episode is all about, as you may have guessed from the title, weapons mods. The list consists of my current favorite 10 weapons mods. In the next episode I'll be talking about mods that I use that will help you with fixing the numerous compatability, stability and framerate issues that unfortunately plague New Vegas and keep people from fully enjoying the experience. Hopefully you guys and gals enjoys this series and this ends up being a solid endeavor and, if anything, I hope it encourages you to further check out New Vegas; it's seriously an epic game. The links to the mods are under the names and I've tried to find as much media to show them as possible. Also, one last thing; if you think of anything that would make this blog better or want to see me to include anything I haven't or talk about a particular set of mods, please let me know! So, without further ado, let's get started-

The guns look pretty cool and well done, I'll admit, but rarely have I seen some objects so at odds with the environment of the game. These seem pretty game-breaking. How do they incorporate into the actual game/world? Does it just break the balance of the game?
Great question. Some of the weapons definitely are "game-breakers" like the Desert Eagle one-shotting pretty much anything, same with the Matchmaster from Wanted, but, in my later episodes, I'll be providing tons of other mods that change everything from the enemy types to their armor, strengths and weaknesses, along with that of the courier (your character) as well.

The best overall mod I can suggest getting for fixing the potential balancing issues, allowing you to change your dt(armor), enemy dt, enemy health, your health, limb and head damages and critical hit/damage is the mod Project Nevada. Just type Project Nevada into google and you'll find it :)

HOw'd you like the blog other than that ? :P
Also, if you are like me, and like to keep the "realism" feel of the game and keep it true to lore, or to create your own lore to adhere to, I'll be making an entire blog dedicated to that later on. Next blog, I'm talking entirely about improving game performance, how to use mods and how to make your own :)
Oh! And one more thing; if you're looking for armor or guns that aren't ridiculously "OP" or un-realistic you can search for mods at newvegas.com . 1)Go to files 2)Go to advanced search 3) In "advanced search" type what you're looking for and check the box for "Lore-Friendly", it weeds out the ridiculous weapons and armor that are "game-breakers" or just do not fix the aesthetic of New Vegas/Fallout.
Well, it was a quick and fun read with the pictures, but since I don't have FNV for PC, it has relatively little applicability to me. Besides which, I haven't even finished it for the 360.

I'm not opposed to more posts about this kind of modding. My only suggestion is more individual commentary. Hearing your views on the mods is interesting. Unless no commentary is necessary.

There was a dtoider a while back who posted a few really cool articles about modding in Oblivion (which is apparently a huge thing), and even though I have no real interest in the game usually, they were cool to read. Link and link.
Just went to his page and followed this dude. Great find man. I want my writing style to be of this caliber in the future. Thanks for the feedback too, brohemothsidon (new nickname!), I've been thinking about making a gritty first-person story-like narrative of New Vegas for a while now...Stay tuned
It's been a while since I've played New Vegas. I will say, WMX and EVE are two mods that I think are essential for New Vegas. They don't do anything major if you're not familiar with the game, but damn. WMX letting you add mods to uniques and EVE adding so much to the energy weapons and gore. Good stuff. I might also recommend the Combine Sniper Rifle. I've been using that one lately. It's pretty awesome, but way overpowered imo. Still rad since it's from Half-Life 2.

Also, I agree with knutaf. If you add some commentary to each mod, it'd make your posts more engaging. Good stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing more!
