Resolutions: Skyrim Day

Heading into the New Year, I have an impressive back log of games I'd like to finish - Uncharted 1 and 2, Saints Row 2 and 3, God of War 3, Dark Souls, Enslaved, Portal 2, Dead Rising 2: OtR, Outland, and of course, Skyrim. Looking at this stack of Awesome, I realize that I have my gaming load for 2012 set. I also realize, however, that I also have SHIT to do... meaning a lot of stuff, not shit all. You understand.

So as 2011 winds down and I drive back home with a bag of five new games to add to the stack at home, I know that I simply can't go home, plug in, and check out. What I've decided is to make upcoming holidays for myself.

For instance, I have four personal writing projects that need to be completed over the next four months, one of which is a screenplay (hello, Hollywood). Once I get back to LA, I'm going to box up and wrap Uncharted 1 and 2 (I still haven't bought 3, but I'm allowing that purchase at some point this year) and put them under my TV set. Once my first draft is complete, I will unwrap and celebrate First Chloe Day (Chloe is the current name of the script). Then, when the final draft is done, I'm going to celebrate Final Chloe Day and unwrap Skyrim. Maybe. Maybe Skyrim day needs to happen later in the year, after everything is complete. Hmmm.... yeah, that sounds better.

On top of this script, I'm also writing a kids book, a stupid hipster book (that will make me millions!), and a one man show. It does seem more reasonable (and makes more sense) to hold off Skyrim until all of this is done. I've witnessed Skyrim, peered into the depths of wandering insanity, and I know I won't come back anytime soon.

The past month has been a bit of a wash what with the holidays, life changes, and work busy-ness... I've gotten very little important stuff complete, but I did manage to slam my way through Bulletstorm, 3d Dot Game Heroes (kind of... I played it 'till I was sick of wandering around Zelda circa '88), and Modern Warfare 3. Yeah, that can't happen in the new year. I've got to get things done!

Additionally, I have resolved to buy NO NEW games until I have this mountain conquered. With the exception of Uncharted 3... maybe.

In closing, my new year's gaming resolution can be summed up in two words: Chloe Day... which means nothing to you, so translation: Skyrim Day. This year, I resolve to balance gaming and productivity. Done and done.   read
