"NINTENDO WII MEGAPACK 14 GAMES 4 CONTROLLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
This is a simple, yet effective guise to make the average person quite confident about the purchase of their brand new Wii. You can get this too...the "14" games, the "4" controllers, all for the dirt cheap cost of $479.99 with a $40 shipping fee!
This little facade has been plaguing ebay ever since the Wii's launch. Certain people have been stockpiling Wiis in their homes for months, only to turn around and sell them for a good chunk of profit per Wii sold. Where does this leave the people who are desperate to find a Wii for a child or significant other, unable to get any information out of their retailers and just plain cursed by a higher demand in their area? It leaves them nowhere, completely SOL. After weeks of frustration, that person is forced into treading the murky waters of ebay, where they will surely be paying 1.5 to 2 times how much they would have payed in store.
The worst of it all, however, is the way that the system is advertised. Ok, let's get one thing straight...YOU NEED THE NUNCHUCK TO PLAY MANY GAMES ON THE WII SO IT IS NOT A SEPARATE CONTROLLER. Also, the 14 games that come with these bundles are always Wii Sports and Wii Play. Imagine the gleaming smile on a mother and father's face as their child tears through the wrapping of their new present, only to find out that the "14" game deal was in reality barely 2 games. And we all know that shipping a Wii isn't even half of $40.
How can it feel right to exploit people who are truly looking to use the system, as opposed to greedily obtaining some greenbacks for their own profit? Some people just can't get to the store an hour before all the Wii's are sold out, and oftentimes they get to the store, only to see the last Wii taken right as they get there. This is a season of giving. It's a season of sharing. And it pains me that human beings are profiting from the misfortunes of other human beings.
So, what do you think of these people on ebay? Are they just an average joe looking to get by, or are they really scumbags in your mind whose sole purpose is to deprive people of their hard earned money?
