Why Microsoft, why? What did i do to recieve such horrible treatment from a large, ridiculously wealthy corporation. I paid you money for my 360, Ive bought shitloads of games, I was practically forced to buy your ludicrously overpriced hard drive add on (i stupidly bought the core). I have the memory card which never gets used, and after reading all about the tragic 3 red lights issue about a year ago, I purchased a brilliant cooling device which also sports every video connection available mounted on the back of it, so i can use VGA and save my xbox from its self inflicted cremation in one fell swoop.
And what is it that i get in return you ask? what do i get for all my loyal consumerism? My 360 is currenty dead, not from overheating, no 3 red lights for me, no sweet 3 yr extended warranty goodness will i recieve when i finally send it of to the faceless conglomerate known as MS. Why you ask? It seems the super fast hardcore next gen awesomely sexy and delicious GPU that sits smugly inside the white box no longer functions. I't wasnt even gracious enough to let the other components know so all I get a nice blank screen with an occasional fuzzy flicker, while the awesome startup sounds and system blades ring out through my speakers.
Now sarcasm aside, i know its been said over and over, but why cant this bloody white box just work. Its a console, not a PC, i shouldnt have to stroke its case and talk it through its problems to try and coax it back from the precipice, just so i can play an effing game. So anyway soon enough ill be sending it of to MS with a nice $110 bill just to get it working how it should. If anyone has any similar stories I'd like to hear them, cheers.

Keep in mind, you have to output more power to power the damn cooler, so it's just a waste of money and time to begin with.
I love my 360, but all the games I have are also on the PS3, and that one won't explode.
I completely missed the cooling unit part. Seriously, don't use those. For any console. They really do hurt more than help.
When tazar gives a PROTIP, it's time to take heed. :D
Ah, that's cool. I haven't heard of that one. Yeah, if it's a separate one, then go for it.
I'm sorry for your problems that you're having --- At least the warranty is pretty long on the 360s now, but you're right --- After paying that much for one, nothing like this should happen in the first place.
Anyways I haven't had any issues with my Xbox360 Elite yet *knocks on wood*. Maybe because I don't play it as much as my PC but I am going back to my statement that consoles should never ever fuck up on a gamer. If people wanted to drop a lot of money on something thats powerful yet has the chance of breaking down then they would get PCs.
The rest of the people want something they can rely on and play good games comfortably. So Microsoft (and Sony in some cases) should stop churning out Super Machines and sticking them in half ass cases that can't cool properly.
