About Me
Mid-twenties gamers with roots starting with SMB2. I am a software engineering major with only a year to go until completion. I hope to land a job with a gaming company as an associate producer or at least some sort of engineering/program design area of work. Hopefully 2-3 years of that stuff will get me far enough ahead that I can then set my plans of Studio creation into motion. The header at the top of my profile is simply the evolution of my "company" logo - Seventh Border, currently going through registration processes, extremely slowly. However I do have an official T-shirt, and a shitty slogan - harumph.

As for my technical prowess, as stated earlier Software Engineer with 2 games, and game-ish project in my portfolio:

o Wooden Crusaders - a sort of Warcraft turn based strategy game
o Super Stick Brothers - a simple Smash Brothers rip off using simple polygons as fighters (circle, triangle, square etc.)
o Arcade Front End - a UI/OS for selecting games for use in a MAME cabinet, will be up for distribution soon.

I am proficient or knowledgeable in the following programming languages:
o Java
o C/C++
o Python
o ABAP - bloody useless

I've also dabbled with some multimedia stuff such Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.

I only game on my 360, though I might look into PS3 soon for Blu-Ray mostly ;).

Well after have gone through the trouble of building up a fairly sizeable gaming library and setting up my whole place for glorious HD gaming over the course of 6 months, I come home last Thursday to nothing less than a broken into home, with no TV or 360 to be seen.

Now I am stuck waiting for several weeks gaming-less during a 2 week lull at school and HD-less during freakin' NHL playoffs because of some two bit punks in my shitty neighbourhood. I hate these guys with a vehement passion!

Stolen Items include:
42" Viewsonic Full HD TV
Remote control for TV, and Remote Control for Sound System (Now I have to get off my ass when I want to up or down the volume, what a bitch)
Xbox 360 Core (special Amazon deal)
Xbox 360 HD Component Cables
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
Xbox 360 Live Headset
VGA cable for HD computer setup

Games:
Guitar Hero 2, Superman Returns (got it free while working at EA), Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fight Night Round 3, Halo 3 2 Disc Special Edition, Call of Duty 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls, Oblivion, Dead Rising

Games/Content on hard drive:
Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Yaris, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Aegis Wing, Pac-Man, Texas Hold 'Em Poker, Hexic HD, Undertow, ScrewAttack Profile Pictures

HP iPaq PDA (older QWERTY model - man QWERTY is fun to type, give it a try)
PSP Charger cable
Towels from the dryer and my bedsheet (seriously WTF?)

In all I should be getting most of this reimbursed, but it sure does suck a whole lot, specially since I had some pretty sweet save games on my machine that are now lost forever. Plus I've double checked with some Live friends, and there's some random fucker playing on Live with my account, what a douche.

Thankfully among my prized possessions, they did not take my sweet ass 5.1 surround system, or External Hard Drive.

Anyone have similar stories of robbery woes?

Cheers,
Mike

I am truly sorry to hear that man. This might be a total long shot but is there any way to retrieve the stolen goods via xbox live tracking the account?

I've spoken with Microsoft concerning my Live account. I was worried about the crooks using my linked Credit Card to make illicit purchases in my name, so I had them unlink it all from my machine. I did not raise the issue you just mentioned, but might ring them up on it. Thanks for the heads up!

I've read somewhere that Microsoft can indeed get a bead on the Live connection, but are unwilling to communicate said info to police because it is in breach of their privacy policy or something...

"Towels from the dryer and my bedsheet (seriously WTF?)"

The towels were placed between the delicate machinery to keep them from being busted inside of the bedsheet that was used to haul all of the stuff out in one easy to thief package.

^ I think you just found your thief

Seriously, that sucks. I hate thieves. Hope you get reimbursed for everything.

Well, maybe the asshole that has your 360 will send you a machoistic voice message that the good people of the internet can then use to track him down. Hell, it worked once, maybe it'll happen again?

that sucks ass. I come home everyday expecting the same thing, except all my shit sucks (except this monitor). And, by the way, karma is complete bs. People tell you that to make you feel better, but it shouldn't. Shitheads are shitheads and when shitheads get fucked, it's not karma, it's them being shitheads.

Never had my TV stolen. That must suck.

However, I've had countless games stolen from me. It hurts.

I'd keep bugging MS about getting an IP trace. You've already filed a police report, but be sure to mention that MS should be able to trace the IP of them using Xbox Live. Then, raise whatever hubub you need to. Keep trying to escalate your claim at the call center, moving up from manager to manager. If that fails, send an email to The Consumerist. They usually help escalate problems.

Best of luck, man. And jesus, you're avatar is creepy.
