Why XBOX live rules
michiyoyoshiku | 12:30 PM on 09.08.2008 22 comments

I never did get around to FPSing but I'll be damned if I didn't have some awesome lessons in Virtua Fighter. I also met an amazing Soul Calibur Fighter who taught each of the guys playing in the room a few lessons and we got better becuase of it.

But what's so great about XBOX Live is that I get to talk to people normally I wouldn't get to talk to. Worldwide Awesome people. People in the west coast, East Coast it's amazing and not just talk but play games too so we have a common ground.

Usually I'd just go on live to get a demo or an Arcade game But now I'm on there to talk to people and to LEARN and get better at the games I'm not so good at.

And that is a good thing.

Woah, is there a special setting you turn on your 360 to talk to these awesome people? I have yet to find some!

I take that back, I've met some pretty cool TF2 people, but that's cause the game has a higher quality of gamers, ZING!

There's always cool people on Burnout Paradise. GTA IV on the other hand? Don't ask!

Wow, that's great that you've met some cool people on Live, I always seem to meet douches and the occasional funny/funny sounding person. But I'm still happy I have Live. Glad you're having a good time.

@ BLINDSIDE:

And what setting do you have on that makes TF2 on the 360 playable?
roland9000's Destructoid Blog
There are ALOT of idiots playing GTA and also just after a game is released. Its nice when you meet some people you can actually talk to without being called a f@g, nigg@ or c@nt.

Had alot of fun playing lost planet for months met loads of cool people.

I have to agree with Half Left...and 360 is all I own the game on :(

@ Blindsided

I'd laugh at that burn, but you're playing TF2 on the 360. Unacceptable.

Lul...that's it?

That can be said with any online game. It depends on the game not the platform it's on.

@JACK of No Trades

50% of the time i play PSN games nobody chats. the other 50% its just like 1 other person in the game who uses a headset & I'm lucky if they say more than 2 words the whole time.

That's one of the biggest screw-ups on sony's part imo. not including a headset w/ every PS3.
michiyoyoshiku's Destructoid Blog
well if people say All i meet are assholes on live point them to this blog.
free touch's Destructoid Blog
Ooooh burn.

Honestly, does it bother you when people say nigga?

I'm more annoyed by the little kids who scream during a game. But to be honest, if someone starts screaming, i just turn down the volume.

I've meet some awesome people playing Halo, VF5 and Bomberman, and even if that only added up to 3 people, It still outweighs the assholes that are on there.

so there are three things you can do:
1: ignore them
2: turn off your sound
3: enjoy the idiots because its fun.

Now, before anyone says "why should I have to put up with blah blah blah..."

Because I fucking say so, that's why. Stop being a pussy about ever single little inconvenience, and grow a pair. And yes, I would tell you that to your face as well.

Maybe I'm just older, or have more patience, or maybe because i'm just a fat asshole, but there's a lot more things to get tweeked off about other than some guy screaming nigga in a live chat.

Its possible to occasionally find nice people on XBL, it tends to happen with games that have small communities, fighting games as well since they're so competitive though you'll always run into the occasional douche.

The weird one is probably Rainbow Six Vegas, deathmatch is just wall to wall assholes but T-Hunt is quite calm.

I feel the same about migrating from being a big Nintendo gamer to the 360. tired of Nintendo's bullshit I made the jump reluctantly, but have no regrets.

When I'm on Live, I meet good people, usually in games that aren't as intensive as the FPS genre. But in truth, I've met generally good people in many games.

If they are polite enough, don't swear every second or play looped music or rap in my ear, and more importantly have a sense of fairplay and patience. Any fools I do meet just get ignored or beaten to death.

LOL, same here, I do love having some 'mad skills' at gaming.

I do enjoy outclassing the asshats and annoying 12 year old kids, espcially on games like COD4 and GTA4. Then laugh my head off when I hear their moaning after the match, they swear at me to no end, and I laugh harder in response, which just leads to them exiting the room, much to my pleasure. :D

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

 about me

it takes a few bad apples to spoil it for everyone.

I'm not abandoning my D-toid blog. However my more epic introspective articles will be at this address

http://oldschoolgaminglove.blogspot.com/

Epic articles go to that address,

Nonsense and Top ten lists as well as opinions on Currant gaming go here.

Reason: I'm sick of the Spam Comments I'm getting and good articles have been tainted by assholish comments over at my other blog I have more control over comments.
