After Akuma utterly destroyed me last night. I showed a few videos to my Friend/ Brother (but not really brother) who isn't a fighting game player and even he was awed by Akuma's pwnage.
In 3rd strike he wasn't even a boss. Even in this state his powers rival Gill's. The Case that he was over powererd sure can be made. That Verticle Hurricane Super Art of his sure does more damage than the typical super art as well.
Making an already powerful villian a Robot demon? That's Stupid....at least by Marvel standards (by DC Standards it's quite tame) But...this being a VS Game he has some insane attacks that will kill you faster than you can say "where's Chuck Norris to help me?"
....Akuma Defeated Chuck Norris.
Akuma Needed to be Extra cheap in CVS2......he contracted SNK Boss Syndrome from Rugal by defeating him on that roof top battle.Shin Akuma at least the CPU one is Crazy ass over powered......When you play as him he still has all the same movie but takes 2x Damage and deals normal damage.
In the Dreamcast ST you can play as CPU Akuma and rape everyone 8 ways from Sunday. Akuma in his first appearance sure murdered everyone that he came across.
But which of these 3 is the most powerful?
As far as Playable incarnations either 3rd strike or Alpha 3
I've never understood the fear people have for Akuma/Gouki.
He hits hard. Very hard. But he can't take damage AT ALL. Akuma in Third Strike was the worst; if Makoto lands even ONE Karakusa on him, the match is over. Dizzy city, then KO.
Akuma is no better in SFIV either. I came very close to perfecting an Akuma at the SF Fight Club a couple of months back. He dizzies easily, but does good damage.
So if it ain't Shin Akuma/Gouki, there's nothing to fear.
Same with Casual. People are afraid of Akuma for the amount of a challenge he presents when he's controlled by a computer. He really isn't all that tough in most versions of Street Fighter, as long as it's a human controlling him. Just this past weekend I was playing as Ken against an Akuma player in Alpha 3, and had no problem beating him down every time.
And yeah, Akuma's p[retty toned down in SF4.
@CasualWeaponry: We need to have our SF4 rematch soon. Soon as in this weekend.
Akuma is my main character in the HD Remix, but I don't feel cheap using him since he takes so much damage. I just love the air fireball, and the different options it gives you - canceling out an incoming fireball, leading into an attack, safely retreating, etc. Plus catching fools sleeping with the Shun Goku Satsu is always fun.
Side note: "Shun Goku Satsu" is apparently an offensive phrase, because Xbox Live wouldn't let me put it in my profile.
He's really not that good in 3rd Strike. The lack of EX moves hurts him a lot. Plus his SA-III (Super Hurricane Kick) is very difficult to combo into. While he can do a lot of damage, he's very stoppable. In playable form, Alpha 3 is your best bet.
@Char: My people are offended by your BLATANT racism! Shun Goku Satsu is OUR PHRASE!
Man... The Shun Goku Satsu can be comboed into?! WTF?!?! I had no idea...
That guy in the 1st video is SICK AS FUCK. I main Akuma in every game I can, and I can beat the CPU on the hardest difficulty mostly without fail, but Jesus Christ... That guy is hardcore.
Personally, the one that's given me the most trouble in my life was SF2 HD Remix Akuma. Even though he doesn't prefix his name with "Shin" he's still a fucking douche.
Alpha 3 V-ism Akuma is (in the hands of a master) possibly the most lethal character in any fighting game ever. I've seen a video before (wasn't on Youtube IIRC) where he destroyed a Bison expert in a matter of seconds. It was insane.

Shun Goku Satsu can be comboed into. I've done it once or twice by accident, but that's a little too hardcore even for me.
And I think the Alpha series Akuma is probably the best. I have to play Alpha 3 more!
