So I was thinking, the NES and 360 have something in common...

THE RROD is still a huge problem. Apparently the 360 Failure rate is around 53% now. My 360 just died a week ago even and Microsoft is spending a fortune fixing these things. Plus we have to send these things to Texas for repair and while in the minority there are issues people have had with the repair center, Dirty Consoles, Autographed consoles being cleaned, the thing being sent back still broken.rare but not so hot.

But I got to thinking... The NES I think any child of the 80s remembers the widespread blinking screen problem.
What did Nintendo do? They created "Nintendo Authorized Repair centers" So I was wondering if Microsoft could do the same, It would save them on shipping costs if anything and players would have a shorter turn around time.
The RROD is as big a problem as the NES blinking Screen it seems logical and even pratical to create authorized repair centers Plenty of Computer repair places could do do 360 repair on the side.

Seems like a good idea at least...

Not gonna happen, good idea though. I just wish you could return it to the store for a new one. Have the store gather a certain amount of shit consoles, then ship via freight for refurbishing. Or maybe that would be stupid, I don't know.

The way I deal with the RROD is to play all multi-platform games on the PS3.

So far so good.

I wonder if that's their goal with those Microsoft stores they are testing out...somewhere. Was it the West Coast, or maybe just in a couple states?

Little did we know back in the NES days, all we had to do is cut one prong, and we would never have a blinking screen again.

Thank god I did that to my nes, it works like a dream every time, unless someone decided to shove sodapop, pringles and poop into the cart base.

Au contraire, mon frere (sp?).. Remember Microsoft is trying to get into building retail shops now?

I remember having to take my SNES to the Nintendo repair place, it was right before my friend "borrowed" it forever too.. :P

this is an excellent idea though.

I do exactly what Holmes does. Single player heavy titles that are cross platform usually go on my PS3

NES blinking screen problem is easy to fix today compared to xbox. You have to cut a micro chip pin inside the nes and no more blinking light.

Sure would have been nice if they actually solved this problem when they made their first hardware revision.............

Like others here, I play all action games (DMC, Ninja Gaiden, upcoming Batman, WET, etc) on PS3 for reliability and controller.

The blinking screen issue was actually the NES region lockout chip being a piece of shit, it never worked correctly and would think you were trying to play out of region games. Simple fix though, just requires pulling a pin out of the chip and it disables it.
