10. Samurai Shodown



I was torn on where to rank it. 10 seems too low for a game whose characters I enjoy too much but the series has far too many weak Entries, in particular V and Tenka. Tenka is a damn fine game yes but Goah just kills it. However I-IV are some of the best Games SNK has ever done with Homages to just about everything awesome. It's got some of SNK's Best story work, Design, and music and probably SNK's best character ever......Genjuro. How can somebody who's mother's a whore NOT be awesome?

9. Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle



Ranked at 9 because the series is so short. 3 games 4 if you count Bare Knuckle 3 and Streets of Rage 3 as separate games. This is beat em uppage at it's best (Until the PSP Ikkitousen comes out this fall) Yuzo's best work. Good selection of enemies and Minimal but awesome weaponage. Challenging boss fights and a Dash of Humor (the car in the first game) It's a Testament to how amazing Sega used to be. Hopefully a new version will come to the 360 and PS3. (If it comes to the Wii then you know the Franchise is dead because the Wii is where franicises go to die)

8. Shinobi


Another of Sega's Finest. But it's a real hit or miss with the recent games the GBA Shinobi's revenge is nothing like the amazing Revenge of shinobi on the Megasis. Shinobi III was weak however Shadow Dancer doesn't get the credit it deserves as one of the best 2d games sega's done. The PS2 Entry of a few years ago was pretty alright too though it can't hold up to Ninja Gaiden II now.

7. Ninja Gaiden


OH YOU JUST KNEW This would be next you had to. With only a few weak entries (the Master system Game, The Arcade game and the original xbox game) Ninja Gaiden is simply an amazing example of Great Level Design, Character development. Music in a game. Just everything. The NES games remain the best 2d 8bit action games of all time.
And the latest entry on 360 is a tremendous homage to those games. Which has everything EVERYTHING in it that made the NES games so great ok ok yeah the story makes no sense how can you be in Japan one minute and in New York the next?
The Weakest entry in the series I'm gonna go controversial and say the XBOX game not the Master system and Arcade game though they sucked too. Ninja Gaiden on XBOX was a graphical feat yes however it has NOTHING that made the NES games so great On it's own yes it a great game but it's Ninja Gaiden in Name and Hayabusa being in it only. Oh By the way I never had any trouble with Alma.

6. Castlevania


SO MANY Weak Entires this was almost 3 but I don't love it as much as the ones that come after this so I bumped it down to 6. Mostly it's sentimental Value. A lot of great Childhood memories playing though III with Alucard and Trevor. SOTN is a fixture on my 360 and IV is one of the SNES' Best games. Not a fan of the GBA and DS games as much but they're solid. The Best games are still X, III, IV and I and of course SOTN.

5. King of Fighters



KOF is a very very interesting little series. It's absolutely HUGE in..........Mexico. But in the US it's just that game that isn't Street Fighter, it's the Madden of fighting games. Which couldn't be farther from the Truth. KOF is ALWAYS evolving. Even today the first game 94 holds up. But 95 is different from 94 and 96 really changed things up. 97 while alot of things were a miss it hit it with the gameplay. Who doesn't love 98. Nests saga added strikers and 2001 while hated by many allowed for 4 on 4 battles. 2002 and neowave are far better than 98 in my opinion. Ash's Tales the Saga we are about to wrap up with XII has been a very intriguing storyline as well. Like Shodown KOF has SNK's best storytelling and designs as well as gameplay. And probably my favorite Video game character of all time.......Iori. KOF's real star however............the arranged soundtracks. BEST GAME MUSIC EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only Bad KOF games are the ones SNK didn't even do....the Gameboy Entries (GBA included) and even the KOF EX games aren't too too bad only hampered by the GBA and DS' Shitty D-pads


4. Guilty Gear


Bridget made me bi! BRIDGET MADE ME BI BRIDGET MADE ME BI!!!!!!!! Actually a Friend of mine did but that's a whole different story. (KIDDING)

Anyways all joking about what Bridget had done to your sexuality and mine. Guilty Gear BB (that's before Bridget) was an awesome game to begin with The Series Peaked at
#reload started to push it's luck with Slash but was absolutly ruined by Accent core....ok so why is it 5? Becuase even though Accent Core sucks It's still a decent and amazing enough fighter to get playtime. Now Guilty Gear 2 isn't a fighter but it sure is a very interesting game as is judgement. The Only entry that alludes me is Isuka which I hear sucks anyway.
Sadly though Ark Sys just can't recapture the magic of Guilty Gear. Hokuto No ken isn't too great. Battle Fantaisa is largely ignored and I don't think anybody really cares about Blaz Blue becuase it's not on a system people care about. But Guilty Gear is forever. That is certain.

3. Sonic



Sentimental Value. A Conversation with some teenage friends of mine (my 2 absolute favorite people on Earth not just some underage kids I hang out with just 2 amazing people) anyways this talk got me to buy a TON of Sonic games now I've always been a fan
but these 2 just made me a fanatic I have to have every sonic game (besides the Wii game becuase the Wii doesn't exist in my world) Granted the series hasn't been as good as it once was lately and I remember playing 1 and 2 feverishly with my cousin. Everyone can agree that the originals Sonic CD foremost ARE Sega's best work The music work in these games as well. They were just the total Package and Dimps did an amazing Job with Advance and Rush. But we haven't had a good console Sonic game in 14 years (When Sonic and Knuckles came out) We've had decent console entires but nothing that has the love and care and level design of the Originals.

2. Street Fighter


I was torn. There were times I prefer the SNK style over Street Fighter and there are KOF characters I love more than Street Fighter. But Mai's Bouncy. The Cat Girl Sexiness of Cham Cham.........they can't compete with Ken, Ryu, Chun Li, Gouki, Bison and co. Event he Mighty Bridget's Penis isn't enough for me to Love Guilty Gear more than Street Fighter.
Street Fighter brings people together and I honestly can't think of a weak entry in the series. Even the EX games are good. The Music in 2 is immortal and will outlive us all.
the Gameplay is timeless. I mean Just like.......What could be better.......Oh yeah some other capcom game nobody has heard of.......


1. Mega Man


It's hard to believe I've been playing a series for 20 years. But Holy shit nuts I have been.
Mega Man 2 was the start of the affair. and Every Mega Man Game I've beaten I've done with the help of an action replay or game genie......they were just that hard. Maverick hunter X and Mega Man 3 remain the only ones I haven't Beaten with cheats. X4 I've come VERY close to beating.
But why? why is Mega Man #1?
Like Street Fighter it's music is immortal and will be remixed amillion times until Christs return and then Jesus himself will remix Cut Man's music as the soundtrack to the Apocalpyse. The NES Series is just one Long ass game if you really think about it. 1 yes it's brutally hard but From 2 on ward the series got progressivly more challenging until 8 which just mellowed enough to stay challenging but not be so hard you swear at your TV and throw your controller at it. The X series is the same way it just got harder and harder.
By the time X8 Came you were cursing everything that stood in your path. I don't care much for anything after X. Zero.....MEH. ZX I like it better when it was super metriod.
EXE and star force........BLEH. That Game Cube game.....Insult to all that is Mega.
But the Original Series and X........Immortal. So Many memories with those games with Friends, with my self......running around as a kid at Recess not playing kick ball or 4 square......but pretending I was Mega Man. That's probably where my mutliple misdiagnosis came from actually......hm well then if Playing Mega Man Fucked me up
then It's the best thing I could've done to fuck my self up because Mega Man Helped make me who I am today.
