In celebration of the "leaked info" of Mega Man 9 here are my favorite Mega Man stages/themes

Cut Man

Mega's First adventure was HARD and probably the easiest stage to get through was Cut Man's and even then it wasn't going easy on you. But the Music in this stage made going through it multiple times just a tad Easier.

Flash Man

You know, I should just put a Mega man 2 walk through video here. Mega Man 2's only pit falls were Wily's stages (HARD) and Quick Man's stage (IMPOSSIBLE) Next to Mega Man 8, 2 is probably The Best designed Mega Man Game there is. Who hasn't played this classic? And if you haven't played it WTF is wrong with you? The Mega Man Collections are BC on all 3 now Gen systems so there's no excuse BUY IT AND PLAY IT AND LOVE IT! Flash Man's stage was my favorite The Music was great and slipping on everything ruled.

Snake Man

Snake Man's stage not only has probably the best song in Mega Man 3. But the Lay out is fun as hell. Giant Snakes quite a few enemies only a few bottomless pits and a section to use that new fangled Rush Jet. Mega Man 3 was in and of it self a clinic in good 2d Stage Design. But Snake Man's stage was by far the Most fun stage to go through.

Gyro Man

and

Gravity Man

I'm Skipping Mega Man 4 entirely. 4 just seemed rushed and thrown together. Not that 5 is much better 5 is HARD. (as are 2 stages in 6) But Gyro Man's theme not so much his stage becuase I keep dying in it. Is probably the best theme in Mega Man's 5th adventure with best stage going to Gravity Man By the time Mega Man 5 had rolled around it was getting stale, You'd think after 3, 4 would have a 2 player co op mode with player 2 being Proto man......Noooooooooooooo. But At least Gravity Man showed some creativy in the dynamic of the stage. Wave Man's stage also shook things up a little too. I still feel the 2nd half of the NES series though is very weak.

Uh Most of Mega Man 8

As you can see I chose to forgo anything from Mega Man 7. Mega Man 7 was just not any fun. The Bosses were boring, the Layout was tedius and having to find Items was a bitch.
YES you can skip to the very end this time with a password but who cares? Yeah the Game gave us Bass. But Bleh.

Mega Man 8 is what 7 should have been. FUN. The Music is fun and bouncy. The Vibe is just all smiles. Here I'm not so much focusing on Music it's awesome yeah but not as great as tunes above. Here I'm focusing on the gameplay. Each of these 4 stages from 8 show a differing mechanic from the Run shoot run gameplay from past Mega games. You got a snowboard (the most ANNOYING part of the game) Uh.....Clown man's stage. Then you have a little Shmuppage with Tengu man and Sword man....well that stage is just pure fun and I love the music. This would be the last Numbered Original Series Mega Man Game for almost 11 years. However.....Mega man 7 needed a Do over........

Rockman and Forte

Rockman and Forte Not quite Mega Man 9 not quite Mega Man 8. It's a weird Entry it has the Graphics from Mega Man 8 animation intact. The Music is as good. You can choose between Rockman (megaman) and Forte (Bass). So what gives? Well this was for the Super Freaking Famicom and this one shows just how much that thing could do. You could've done Mega Man 8 on the SFC even. This could be an apology for Mega Man 7 or a thank you to all the loyal fans of the Mega. Becuase this game is HARD. Tons of fan service in this game though in the form of Collectable CDs. And the intro stage which is here for both musical reasions and the fact it's pay homage to the stages of Metal man, Fire man Bilzzard man and Toad Man. After this it's kinda down hill the stages are near impossible the bosses are boring and there's even a repeat boss from Mega Man 8. Playing this you could tell Capcom was running dry on original Series ideas. Even the Stage select is linar.
This would eventually come to the US for the GBA while the superior SFC version stayed in Japan. Worth a Download. This game is either Mega Man 7 take 2 or Mega Man 8: Infuckingpossible edition.

Next time I'll do the X series.

Ah the nostalgia, good time, albeit painful at some points (Yellow devil), good times nonetheless. Also for fans of Mega man 2's soundtrack check out The Megas' album Get Equipped. [url=http://web.mac.com/themegas/The_Megas/main/main.html[/url]

I have failed on posting that link. Also I really hope they're not pulling our chain on the 8-bit retro look.

I'm glad to see Gravity Man's stage come up in your blog. I think this was the 2nd time a video game used this upside down gravity mechanic. The 1st being Metal Storm. It's always a thrill for me to play through.
