Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
16 is still the biggest default roster for a non spin off SF game.
uh...Alpha 3? That's not a spinoff. The cast passed 16 last I remembered.
I DO agree with you on the fact they could at least try to work with it. Comparing it to the MMX1 and MM1 remakes, looking at this is a big WTF. It deserves much more than a simple "wiiware launch".
So either capcom's not caring or they're too busy worried about their other bigger games.....or Inafune is too busy working on a way to get Capcom to get Legends 3 made into a game.
For me, Mega Man has never been more alive.
They want it to be reminiscent of traditional NES games? Well boy howdy, that is fine by me. The screens we saw in Nintendo Power look cute, and the 8-bit mode in ZX Advent was actually a hootnanny of a good time! I don't feel like bleeding all over Capcom's dick just because they want to throw me an 8-bit Mega Man-- hell, if anything, I think it's a damn ballsy move. I'm sure they're prepared for this backlash, though. They can take care of themselves.
You don't want to buy Mega Man 9? Don't.
Wait, you mean nobody's forcing you? Holy shit, groundbreaking territory. Let's say you're right-- let's say this game is a heap of shit and nobody bites because of blah blah dick whatever the hell you said-- then the game will fail, they'll make no money and no more classic Mega Man games will be made as a result. Just wait it out.
Capcom doesn't care about you.
But Biohazard 5? Devil May Cry 4? Lost Planet? Dead Rising? The Mega Man collections? How can you say Capcom AS A WHOLE is so terrible?
Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8 at least tried something new with each incarnation. I'm waiting for gameplay, but the graphics look terribly disappointing.
alrighty i'm calling this out. Seeing Guile was a fucking madman in the original SFII. Quick sonic boom recovery, decent spacing, and the man only had 2 moves. What more do you want from the man?
if you want Guile having more moves, go play those silly SF EX games.
Capcom = WIN.
WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT.
If it sucks, then bitch.
For now, stfuajpg. OK?

How about variable height Sonic Booms? Or a move or two more akin to Remy in SF3? Hopefully unique moves will make up for it, because many people only played Guile in early SF2 incarnations for his broken handcuffs throw. I just find him, M. Bison (or Balrog in America), Blanka, Edmond Honda, and other characters VERY boring when compared to Dudley, Necro, Oro, or even Alpha's special guest stars.
but in the end, I won't care. Just as long as the gameplay itself is as good as everyone keeps saying makes up for it.
Also, Resident Evil 5.
So in the end, you're once again caught going fishing. You're nitpicking and looking for something to bitch about. Don't you have something better to do?
The last truely innovative game they did was Dead Rising and it sold well......and they aren't whoring it out.
When there is displaced and unexplainable logic in anything these days I use the term "Capcom Logic"
I'm still waiting for my Xbox Mega Man X collection BTW......
(I have it on Gamecube with the LE controller but I might just get the PS2 version)
That's capcom for ya, tons and tons of annoucements and amazing things......then they go and piss on Mega Man's Legacy by taking the long awaited 9, Making it download only, on a system tons of people own but never play (could be on XBLA and PSN too so yeah) Mega Man 9 should've been HD, with huge sprites they could still look 8-bit but nooo
lets just make an 8 bit game the retro people that can't move on will eat it up....
Riiiiiiight.
Agreed whole heartedly! Capcom making a new Megaman and its going to be 8-bit! That to me is a very good thing, but it would be nice to see it made with some better graphics. I do love my MegaMan tho...hopfully it will be epic.
1) Don't title your blog "Dissappointment and Capcom mean the same thing" then talk about how many upcoming Capcom games you aren't dissapointed in (namely, every Capcom game that isn't coming to a Nintendo console).
2) Don't pretend to know that you will hate MM9 after seeing some blurry screenshots and reading second hand information about it. This game will likely come to XBLA and PSN, just as Spacecat predicted, so you'll still get to play it. It will also likely be very cheap, and potentially very fun. A game's graphics are important, but if the gameplay is good, you will like this game, (and feel stupid for publishing this rant).
3) Don't go saying thing like "I could make my own 8-Bit MM9 myself" unless you plan to prove it, because I really, really, really don't think you could.
Making good looking 8-bit sprites isn't that all that easy, nor is making them animate, and all that's nothing compared to composing original 8-bit music, planning fun 2D platforming levels and bosses, programming effective enemy AI, power-ups, etc. This new MM9 will have new sprites, new music, new everything. Just because it looks like a game from 20 years ago doesn't mean it's easy to make.
Hope these pointers help.
As far as the whole "can't move on" thing. I take offense to that stereotype. I have played alot of games in my life, all mixed with different standards in graphics and presentation. I've also played pretty much every Mega Man title that has come out. When it comes down to graphics anymore I just don't give two shits. They will all most likely look like garbage in 10 years anyways.
Sure, it may be easy to assume that making an 8 bit game is the lazy way out, but it should be valid to also assume that maybe the developers behind this have chosen this style because of their love for the franchise. Mega Man has stylistically been pretty much everywhere on the map now. Mega Man's golden age was in the 8 bit era, maybe the developers are just trying to simulate that experience again.
You are part of the problem.
Please excuse me for not backing that up with anything, its late.
Also, I do agree that Capcom has disappointed me before (No REZero on Wii in PAL? WTF?!) But still, Capcom plans to release a game with little details revealed to date and you don't like it so you complain? No need to blog/bitch about it, just don't buy the damned game.
Everyone that isn't Sega and EA and Ubi soft are idiots.
You realize those are three of the most horrid developers in gaming today right?
We make a game everybody gets it.
and Ubi Soft has some great developers.
coughsegarallycough
plus they remade Nights for the PS2 in Japan.
