Bungie is a capable developer. Oni was pretty decent for what it was. Marathon is a good evolution of Doom well for it's time now all it does is give me migraines when I try to play it on my 360.
I can't say I hate Halo Single player is a lesson in monotony. But multiplayer is as fun as it gets......if you play with Friends and not a bunch of Dicks........and mostly a bunch of Dicks play halo 3 on line.
But I hate seeing a deveopler waste their potential on just 1 game. Keiji Inafune floruished with non mega man games maybe you've played em? Onimusha, Dead rising and Lost Planet.
Miyamoto could've just made mario and zelda forever but eventually he had other ideas and Nintendo basically revolves around them.
Valve could've gone the Bungie route and just made Half Life forever and ever amen and I'm sure countless trips to Black Masa would be welcomed by some but Portal is probably their new mainstream hit. People that never even played the game are singing Still Alive. Team Fortress if you can find people to play it with (seems dead on live lately) is fun too. Left 4 dead will be awesome too.
Same with Epic Games seems all they make is Unreal. I'm fine with that but then somebody played Resident Evil 4 and needed a showcase for their new engine and BAM Gears of War is born. Which I'm not fond of but it has it's fans.
Even Harmonix tried a non music game and did ok with it using the PS2 Eye toy.
One of the most common phrases my Christian budides tell me (or at least the ones still left) is "step out of you comfort zone and when you do amazing things will happen"
Christian or not that's sound advice. (seems I hear it mostly from Christians that's why I say it)
It seems if anyone working at Bungie wants to try something else they have to leave. Stubbs the Zombie for example for all intents is a Bungie Game but made by people who left Bungie mainly it's cofounder Alex Seropian his studio's 2nd game sucked though. Good idea bad Execution (Hail to the Chimp)
So Bungie left Microsoft and....they're still doing Halo games...that Microsoft won't announce.
Why not revist myth? or use Halo 3's engine to revist myth.
See if you can get the rights to Oni back and do a game not unlike Mirror's Edge?
Bungie has wasted potential just doing Halo and they need to "step out of their comfort Zone"
We're bound to get sick of Halo eventually
Go with what works I suppose.
also, I approve of this blog.
Also, Stubbs was THE BEST Pro-Zombie EVAR!
I'm still hoping for Stubbs 2.
It's smart business, and I'm sure eventually they'll try something new. For now, I can't blame them. It's just too stupid to quit on Halo when it's still so damn popular.
I personally liked Oni outside the buggy bugs and glitches within the game. If they were to do a port or make a complete new one, i'd be pretty happy. Though I still find it surprising so many people still play Halo 3 when CoD4 is like...the FPS of Live at the time. Not saying Halo 3 multiplayer's bad. But you know...
L4D is made by Turtle Rock who got picked up by Valve.
So it wasn't them...I don't know, I got nothing.
I dont care what bungie does. I've enjoyed all the Halo games, so whatever they do next, im interested. I doubt theyd purposely do Halo to death, but hey, if thats where the money is, i dont blame them... but eventually, it may not involve my money :P.
The campaign in the original Halo was extremely boring. The multiplayer, however, was rather well-tuned and good fun.
Halo 2 had a slightly more interesting campaign, albeit completely unoriginal and derivative, but they broke the multiplayer completely. I hated it.
Halo 3's campaign is better than the first, but worse than the second, and while the multiplayer is much improved over the second iteration, there are still a number of games that provide a better experience this generation (e.g., CoD4 and TF2).
Mediocre: not exceptional, special or great; of medium quality. That's what Halo has always been to me: an average experience with a phenomenal marketing campaign.
Finally, you don't know me. Don't insult my intelligence by pretending you do.
I think Bungie is very capable I just think they need to spread their wings and soar.
Halo is popular in the same way that the Madden series is popular.
Only difference is that new Halo games don't come out every year.
