Many video games build upon the concepts and mechanics of their forerunners. Off-Brand Games examines those that draw just a little too much... inspiration.
For my E3 musings article last month, I won the gift of random E3 swag! It never arrived. I cried. I ate a roll of cookie dough. I punched a hole through my favorite stuffed animal, one Rocky Raccoon.
The cats up in Destructoid tower heard my cries and wanted to make it up to me. I told them to hunt down and murder the inept USPS jerkoffs who stole my shit. They talked me down to another box of random trinkets. And so I started my door-side vigil once again.
It came.
What was inside? Let's slice this mother open.
I cut open all my mail this way.
Careful inspection of the box shows that it once belonged to a Rey Gutierrez. Seems familiar. Ring any bells? I'm stumped.
Hudson demo discs! My prayers have been answered!
Stolen from a disreputable Motel 6, I presume.
Buds and balls!
A Japanese tangram puzzle that will most definitely be seeing some serious play time.
STICKERS!!!
PINS!!!
It's almost like I'm a real cop now!
Oh my God... the world's brightest LED flashlight.
I want to thank to Dtoid crew for coming through with this backup box of goodies! I promise that nothing here will go to waste!
I'd been waiting on my E3 swag for the last month too, but I just assumed that living in the U.K. might have caused it to take a while getting here. (Heck, I'm still waiting on a States imported T-Shirt from my birthday back in May!) Never crossed my mind that it'd have been lost in the mail, which is odd since it seems to happen a lot to people in Britain...
I guess my package isn't gonna come either now. When I'm off my holiday i'll get in contact with the higher up's and check it out.
I thought so! I tried PMing you (I couldn't find your email) to ask if you had received yours but you never responded. Shame that you didn't get your package either.
Sorry I couldn't reply to that. It's not often I check my message box for Dtoid, and my wonderful laptop's refusal to accept any power has meant that the internet has been difficult for me to reach! Heck, its only by coincidence that i've managed to catch your blog for a reminder now; busy holidaying and moving around these last few days means this is the first time I've managed to secure a computer in a while!
I'll be sure to give Hamza a PM after I've settled down a bit anyway. Thank's for the clarification!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
@Diverse
Every single anime convention, no matter how small, has had like 100 of those things there to choose from.
Still awesome swag.
I have an opener kinda like that, but bigger.
And yeah I totally understand. No offense to our postal system, but transporters/teleporters/"Rocket strapped chimps" can't get here soon enough.
I guess my package isn't gonna come either now. When I'm off my holiday i'll get in contact with the higher up's and check it out.
That's some real sweet swag there! :)
