This is actually my first run through FFIV. I've played it several times but never made it past the return to Baron Castle. Well thankfully my saved game is holding up, and last night I had a shocking revelation:
This game is for fucking pedophiles.
Ooh Rydia..you've...grown up!!?!?
I mean her fucking weapon is a whip, people!!!
Listen, I thought this was a cool touch for the story. It was getting pretty cliche and boring up until you rescued Rosa back. Actually, FFIV is pretty cliche by today's standards but it's still a great game in the series. It pulls out great moments when you least expect it, and I really appreciate that.
However, making a little girl into a sultry summoner through an advanced aging process is just meant to fuck with you. You're supposed to feel wrong about having some sort of pathetic attraction to her new found image..and it's so hard not to like Rydia in her older form.
Nice 'n perky..just the way daddy likes 'em..
Myster solved, Scooby Doo. It was the crazy old Japanese man in the panties vending machine making spooky noises.
Also, sure things about FFIV are cliche NOW, but remember that this game is originally from 1991, before the plot line had been used and re-used to death.
you're right to an extent. i feel like FFIV was the turning point for the series..more complicated plot lines, while also trying to break away from the standard look of the series the last 3 games had..castle..village built in a forest..caves..etc. FFIV has a lot of this, but i can see its feeble 1991 attempts to break away and be unique, visually and also with the game play and story. i never said it was bad, chill.
I think you may have said too much . . .
yeah same. i'm playing the gba version so i'm assuming those dancers were an attempt to show off their scripting abilities for npc characters. before FFIV, all npc's would just walk around mindlessly like chickens in a pen.
subenu:
don't let the facade fool you. simple games often have complex undertones, especially ones put together by designers in their late 30's and 40's.
I totally agree with you, but on the other hand, SD is quite common in japanese Manga/Anime, so it's rather difficult for me to hop on that train of thought. But you have a point there.
is wrong on so many levels. I like.
That really happened in my FF6, he's just that awesome.
that is specifically why i love ultros and FF6.
