What is the second game i should get for my ps3?
maxio098ui | 3:37 PM on 06.10.2008 25 comments

So i'm getting the mgs4 ps3 bundle, and after I have completed the game I am going to want a second game. What should I get ? I have a list of games that look interesting.

Warhawk

I looks like fun and I think it will be a good game to play online. It's also the cheapest of the games on my list. Is it fun online? And do people play it a lot?

Motorstorm

Good game? does it have enough replay value? is it fun to play?

Resistence: FoM

I don't know about this one. It looks alright but console shooters don't really give me the chills. I liked time splitters 2 and halo 1 but the rest just don't do it for me.
Will this game be any different?

Virtua tennis 3 or similar

I liked top spin. But it got a bit boring after a while. Is this game different? Is it good fun? Is it worth the money?

Uncharted: Drakes fortune

Ive heard good things and bad things about this game. do the good outweigh the bad? Will it compell me to the end? Will I want to complete it?

And last but not least.
GT5 prologue

I loved GT2 and I love Forza 2. is this game worth a purchase over other games in this list?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

I don't quite feel comfortable with telling you which to get...
But! I'll tell you which I'll be getting!

[i]Ninja Gaiden: Sigma
Warhawk[/i]

And I'll definitely have to at least try out Drake's Fortune!

Wow, that failed in the BBCode.

Uncharted.

Warhawk is above average, but nothing special. Motorstorm is the same race 300 times in a row. Resistance is a generic shooter, overrated. I haven't played multiplayer, though, so that could be good. Don't know about virtua tennis, when I played it it seemed okay but nothing special. GT5 Prologue is good, but not worth the amount people are charging for it.

Uncharted is my favourite PS3 game to date. Great graphics, story, gameplay, everything.

It's hard to answer that question because the answer depends upon whether you already own an XBOX360 or not. Let's just assume you don't. Below is my list of recommended titles.

BUY THESE:
- Call of Duty 4
- Grand Theft Auto 4
- Rachet and Clank: TOD
- Resistance: FOM
- Warhawk

RENT THESE:
- Heavenly Sword
- Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

As for driving games I would recommend you stay away from GTA5: Prologue. The reviews are very mixed. If you are looking for a good driving game I would recommend GRID. It's geting rave reviews.

Keep in mind these are my own opinions so take them all with a grain of salt.

I'd go with Uncharted. It's a fun, spiffy little game that I quite enjoyed even though the AI pissed me off frequently.

The Dtoid PS3 crowd rarely plays Warhawk online, but I'm sure there is an ass-load of people playing it all the time.

I've played the demo of Resistance, and I was very unimpressed with it. I guess it was because I was playing Call of Duty 4 at the time and made every other shooter with a "war" theme seem like crap.

Motorstorm pissed me off because of the long load times, and the lack of any variety on the tracks. Then again, I've been bored of racing games as of late.

Finally, with GT: Prologue it's basically a demo of GT 5. People seem to like it, but then again you kinda have to justify paying 40 bucks for a glorified demo.

Uncharted was about 200+ hours too short.

The nice thing is you can go onto PS3's online store and download demos for most of the games we have listed to try them out for yourself and see if you like them. Here is a list of the demos I know about from the games people have mentioned so far.

- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
- GRID
- Rachet and Clank: TOD
- Motorstorm
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma

My top choices would be: Call of Duty 4, Battlefield: Bad Company (it comes out soon...but I've played the demo and it was amazing), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and certainly Motorstorm. I have 25 PS3 games, so i had to cut down the list to what would benefit you the most early on. Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield will easily give you the most gameplay as you'll be able to play online. Resistance is pretty good, but nothing compared to COD4. Your best bet is to download the demos off of the playstation store and try them out for yourself.

I weigh in about equally for Uncharted, Resistance and Warhawk. Warhawk rides on multiplayer, Uncharted on characters and story, and Resistance on crazy guns. Pick the one that falls into the genre you like the most; I really can't decide which one I think is better because they're isn't much overlap.

I'd skip GT5:P, just because GT5: The Whole Fucking Game will eventually be out. Motorstorm didn't catch me and just screw tennis.

There are several choices and many are good really depends on what you like to play I would say if you like single player games mainly Rachet or Uncharted may be must haves or at least must rent(I loved Heavenly Sword as well but I would say its a rental or buy it cheap game cause its too short(though I bought it for 60 bucks)). If you like online shooters etc Warhawk would be a safe bet cause its unique to PSN resistance is too though. I like Motor Storm and I am sure it still has some play in it and the sequel interest me.

Alot of the games you have listed are older so they will may be obtainable cheaper so I would just go by what fate offers you. I think I saw virtua tennis on PS3 and the game days(at game stop the anti-christ of gaming) for 20 bucks.

If you have not played Oblivion yet, I completely recommend Oblivion Game of the Year edition. It is the best console version of Oblivion

I thought Uncharted was the perfect length — it’s about 8 hours...but if it was any longer, it would’ve dragged, IMO. It’s definitely worth a purchase, as it was my favorite PS3-exclusive game of 2007.

Out of those games Uncharted definitely has my vote but I'd go with Ratchet and Clank above that if we are talking PS3 exclusives

Pfffff. This is hard because I've got and enjoyed every single game you've mentioned. It depends if you're looking for a multi-player or single-player game.
Single player: Uncharted
Multi player: Warhawk

Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden Sigma might interest you, if you haven't tried Assassin Creed you should rent it, then you judge.

Warhawk (get the expansion bundle to save money)

& get Ridge Racer 7 too. It's the one of the few real 1080p PS3 games (GT:P is 1280x1080). $30 bucks at amazon. Pretty fun & good price.

Virtua Tennis 3 is also one of the few 1080p games, but its actually better on 360 & has Live support (1080p on 360 too). Personally i like top spin more though.

Drakes Fortune is a beautiful game, but the controls are a little quirky. If they don't bother you it's good fun. Limited replayability though. Might want to wait on a price drop on that.

Resistance is good, but again I would wait on a price drop which must be coming really soon. (since R2 is coming out)

Motorstorm was decent but there are better racers imo. DiRT being one of them.

GT5:P is gorgeous, but the physics are still old like GT3 & 4; & it's still bumpercars w/ the lack of damage. Also the online is HORRIBLE, no friends list, frequent DCs, bad collision detection system. Unless you're a hardcore GT fan I would wait for GT5 to come out. The final GT5 will have damage (on most cars, some wont) & I'm hoping a better online system. Your money would be better spent on GRiD.

Oh, and in a month WipEouT HD comes out. That will be probably great. Check out the site.
