About Me

Native of NC and an all out Tarheel Fan.

I work as an Assistant Systems Administrator at a community college. I work hand-in-hand with our unix box that controls all of our student data and personnel information. I also teach part-time online classes each semester to bring in a little extra dough.

I have a Wii, but the 360 rules my TV. You can check the GC for game types, but I am definitely more of a shooter fan.

Cartoons over the ages.

As I have said before... I am 28 years old and have 1.95 children (other due on July 4th). I have been spending time watching cartoons with my son and I still cannot help but think about the older ones.

Do any of you remember when cartoons used to be on at 3:00 p.m. when you got home from school?

Ducktales

Tale Spin

What about GI Joe?

To me all of these cartoons were a blast to watch. It seems lately that kids are burdened with crappy ones like The Dinasaur King, Kirby, The Wiggles (even though it is not a cartoon) and more.

Do not get me wrong. There are some descent cartoons out there, but I just miss the flare of the other ones. Think God for Disney Cartoon Channel and Boomerang. I can still allow my child to watch some of the great cartoon's were people actually DRAW!

New cartoons blow (i.e. the new Transformers show on Cartoon Network with the shitty anime-ish style)

When I eventually have kids one of the first cartoons they'll be exposed to will be Batman: The Animated Series. If they don't like it they'll immediately be put up for adoption.

X-Men... Rescue Rangers.... Batman.... Even the Batman with the kid taking the role and being guided by Bruce Wayne were all great.

GI Joe was definitely an epic cartoon. "Knowing is half the battle."

Although I didn't follow them every single week, I did see the occaisonal Duck Tales or Talespin. GI Joe, however, didn't seem to appear on British TV, but then again, that isn't a great loss to me.

Mysterious Cities of Gold FTW. :OD

@massiveplugger: I'm 28 as well, which means we should have watched the same stuff growing up. I definately remember the 3:00 cartoons after work. They always ran until around 5:00 or 6:00, and then Full House and Family Matters would come on.

I do remember Duck Tales and Talespin. I also remember Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs.

@massiveplugger: I unfortunately can never comment on your blog again. The UNC tarheel you have on your profile on the side of the screen is burning my eyes and I can't stand to look at it. As an NC State Wolfpack fan I am not allowed by law to have any further communication with you.

Don't forget Darkwing Duck.

I really miss the days when Disney made actual awesome stuff. I mean, are any of the kids nowadays going to be sitting around 10 years from now and talking about how awesome it was growing up watching Hannah Montana and Lizzie McGuire and all that crap?

Somehow I doubt it.

I remember waking up entirely to early on saturdays and watching all the cartoons for hours and hours until my parents woke up and kick me out of the living room.

It was the time of my life. :)

Silverdragon.... I can understand that my Tarheel burns your eyes. Just remember that I have had a brother go to NC State and another to Chapel Hill (Tarheels). I bleed Carolina blue from my up bringing.

Pinky and the Brain.

I also remember the time period when you could wake up during the weekday mornings and watch some of the same cartoons that came on during the afternoon.

I agree about kids saying remember Hanna Montana!! But, most people probably did not think we would be talking about this as adults.

I used to love the disney afternoon, I was quite sad when it vanished so abruptly(years later I found out why), waking up at 8 and watching all the cartoons on ABC and NBC.

Better times :(

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Ducktales, Mighty Max, Bobby's World, Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, Power Rangers, before they sucked. and Goosebumps.

Ducktales, and Mighty Max are the only ones I can still stomach on youtube, though.
