I own a 360 that has survived the dreaded RRoD. It has in fact done this on 3 seperate occasions. The picture above is actually from some time last year. However today, May 13, my 360 died at 2:36AM during a Forza Motorsport 2 race. Unlike most times the screen froze completely, which I only assumed was the heat damage that the console had done to the disc, and then went immediately to RRoD. The other times it hiccuped and then went to RRoD. In thinking that it was just the console having issues I took Forza out and put in a copy of Destroy All Humans I got for less than a buck at a Hollywood Video closing. I turned the TV back on and the screen had then frozen at the opening video. You know the one with the spinning xbox ball. I turned it off and then on one last time hoping that it hadn't completely fried but alas, it went immediately to the rings.
So there you have it. The 360 that had survived multiple RRoD's has finally succumbed to the inevitable. Its too early in the morning to call Xbox support so I haven't yet.
I am a little annoyed as in the history of gaming I don't know of one console that has had this kind of issue. As you can see from the above pic I have a SNES that runs just fine and its just a bit disheartening. From unboxing to final RRoD the console was 1 year, 4 months, 17 days old.
These stories never stop even though Microsoft said it won't happen after the revisions.
I guess I can't expect to do a 12 hour marathon of GTA4 like I did with my PS3. Or having it on all day playing music and videos like I do.
Thankfully I have a decent PC that makes the need for a 360 near zero at the moment. (Seriously, almost all my anticipated 360 games come to the PC).
