"We constantly have to revisit 'Why would Donkey Kong do this?' or 'Why would this environment be like this?' And then we start thinking: 'We're making a game about a gorilla wearing a tie.'"
-Michael Kelbaugh of Retro Studios on Donkey Kong Country Returns
"I have to say it's kinda scary how much you know about this game."
-Nicolau Chaud creator of Marvel Brothel
Since I don't really like posting short blogs here are some interesting things that happened this week.
I won two contests and I'd like to thank Dtoid for the gifts that I have received. First is MKvsDC for the PS3.
I entered for a PS3 and unfortunately I won a game I really wanted for a system I don't own. Thats mostly my fault as I was deathly sick when Hamza emailed me on the first come first serve basis for the games. So, stoopid cooties aside I've put the game up on Goozex. I hope it makes whoever gets it very happy that its brand spanking new otherwise I'm going to my cousin's house (who so happens to own a PS3) for the holidays so if nobody requests the game by then it'll be under a different Christmas tree come December 25th.
Speaking of Goozex...When putting that up I noticed that they are running some pretty cool deals right now. First is free movie trades. No trade credits will be taken from your account on movie trades til January 31st, 2010. I'm probably gonna trade away some of the crap that I've accumulated through the years (goodbye Senseless) for other people's crap that they've accumulated.
Second is that they are offering bonus points on New Releases (traded within 30 days of release) be it movies or games. Lego Rock Band is on that list and it's also free at Old Navy (with a $20 purchase) Black Friday. Also, I'm sure I'll get a bunch of awful DVD's from my family for Christmas so this seems like a good thing.
Finally, students that have a .edu email address get free trading til January 31st, 2010. This should be a great way to get some cheap games so I'd jump on this if I still remembered what my student e-mail was.
The other game I worked my butt off to win is Military Madness: Nectaris for my 360. I probably posted 60 times out of the 454 posts on this. Its an SRPG and I kinda like that genre...so I kind of made the contest a battle against myself. I figured it was no fun if I posted World War 2 for 60 posts, so I tried to make each post unique from the other posters. In doing so I actually learned some things. Like there was a Sega Saturn Bomberman called Bomberman Wars which happens to have a bad ass Goku-like Bomberman in it.
So again, thanks to Destructoid and Hamza for my free stuff. You guys are awesome!
Also...while I'm at it...I'm totally gonna troll this RFGO vid I did again:
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
yeah...we know puppies are horrible at grammar.
