Free Games: al|together 2008 “CROSS THE RUBICON”
manasteel88 | 12:37 AM on 12.05.2008 1 comments

Every year or so a group of translators get together and translate some Japanese freeware visual novels into English. This year has six titles translated for al|together 2008 “CROSS THE RUBICON". These are all different types of visual novels and they're all free so check em out.

From the Bottom of the Heart:
From the Bottom of the Heart tells the story of a young man who has recently been treated for a serious illness, and who finds a certain kind of redemption in the most unlikely place. This is the shortest work to be presented at al|together 2008; total read time clocks in at about five minutes.

Crimsoness:
This is the epic story of Bakumi Moriyama, the most powerful being in the universe.

But only for three minutes.

The Letter:
Its the story of an elderly man involved in an accident that sends him through time where he meets his 8 year old self and how he forms connections with his family.

Moonshine:
This is the story of 'Mai' — a sensitive young soul who is neither really male or female. This is the story of the unnamed protagonist — who finds himself suddenly without a means to support himself due to factors completely outside his control. This is the story of an entire generation — that finds itself attempting to navigate the treacherous abyss that lies in between childhood and true adulthood. This is the story of a nation — that finds itself struggling to come to terms with a lost decade and a rapidly-changing social climate. This is a story of these things and more.

This is a story of us all.

May Sky:
May Sky is a tale of two people who find themselves slipping through the cracks in Japanese society. It is a tale made possible by the economic stress and the social upheaval of the Lost Decade. It is in equal parts a romantic comedy and a stark commentary on the treacherous no-man's-land between one's "public face" and one's "private face". It is all of these things and more.

LEAVEs:
The protagonist and his childhood friends awake one day to realize that the world is not their own... This is a project that took 3 different teams to finally complete.
