I am sure most people have seen the footage of Bioshock 2 if they are reading this but if you haven’t go check to CTZ’s post about the footage.

I am a huge fan of Bioshock, so much of a fan that I even love the ending of Bioshock, and the game is in my top ten for greatest games ever. So, like most people, when I heard that there was going to be a sequel(?) to one of my favorite games of all time I got a little afraid.

The team was one knife edge, one side sucking and the other being awesome, since the announcement of Bioshock 2 and news like the Big Sister didn’t help the cause but when I saw that trailer with game footage my attitude change completely. The game is still not getting an easy pass form me, but now I am intrigued at the notion of another cool shooter. That isn’t a knock against the game, the original had awesome combat but from what was shown, in a very very very small amount of footage, this game seems more combat heavy. (this is also what I thought of Bioshock until my mind exploded from the awesome story)

Anyway, my tip for the new team is: go all the way with this game, just because some angry nerd on the internet post several comments about how the sequel isn’t faithful just ignore them like we all should. Look at Resident Evil 5, the game kept the same look and feel while adding new stuff for the player to experience (that seems like a set up for co-op in Bioshock 2, oh crap). So far though the game is going to that next step with the Big Sisters being able to go really fast and your drill being able to mess some guys up, which makes me just jump with joy.

I am not hoping for a Terminator to T2 jump but it won’t be a Jaws to Jaws 2 fall (sorry to those people who liked that film). The developers could still mess with the pie they already have though, but if they take that piece of advice from me (a random person on the internet who went to a professional convention with Awesome Cougars on my badge) maybe they won’t screw up with the pie.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm pie

I'm a lot more confident in Bioshock 2 now the gameplay footage is out there
I think it looks great.
Why I blindily hate it:

1-Being a Big Daddy , excpet when the Big Sister comes around , I'll feel like a tank

2-Big Daddy's only have 2 guns , one of them being melee

3-They already told Rapture's story , now it'll be of a stupid useless character

4-A eternal escorting mission is a terrible terrible ideia
The game looks great. What drew me in were the environments and the myth of Rapture with all its wonderfully demented inhabitants. From the brief bit of footage, it looks like the new team has captured the look and feel of those environments which is great. I'm still cautious but I can definitely agree than I'm a lot more excited knowing the kind of track this game is on. Also, I really hope they keep up with the licensed music. That added so much to the game and I'd hate to see it go.
@Mr. Master

Is that confirmed that you are a Big Daddy the whole game or the two weapon stuff because I didn't talk about it cause I don't know anything about this game.
i thought it was just 1 big sister...
@Madninja

Well , looks like that all of a Collete's post is true so far , and I see no way to revert the Big Daddy process , don't they say in the first Bioshock somenthing about the Big Daddy armor reposing human skin?Also ,the escorting part was already showed at the trailer ...
I know it was in the trailer but that is just a small part of the game but if the developers have said that the escort thing is throughout the game then I should have added that.
You can choose to escort a little sister whenever you want to, it is not compulsory; you just have to steal her from another Big Daddy first.

Also, I like the idea of seeing Rapture from a completely different point of view. I'll admit I still have my doubts about reopening Rapture - admittedly I kind of liked the idea of leaving the splicers down there to rot and die - but from what I've seen of the gameplay so far, it's looking extremely awesome.

With the prospect of upgradable plasmids and weapons that actually change the way they work and the way you can use them, as well as combining powers, I think this game has a lot of potential to hold it's own ground.
Madninja you so crazy
Canadian pie?

why not swallow some draino while you're at it.
I was on the fence 'til I saw the Big Sister cut the shit out of the window and the water just poured in. Then I realized, it will be good.
Don't worry about the haters. As much as you think devs read negative responses and take every miniscule negative comment and try to make the haters happy they don't. Most people realize you won't please everyone, and if you try to you'll sacrifice the game you were trying to make just to make some random internet hater happy. Who in their right mind would do that?
I dont hate it, but I wont be buying it as fast as I did with the first one, first because beign what it is I already know what is all about (sotry and gameplay). That wasnt the issue with the first Bioshock, I didnt have a clue of what I was getting into.

Now I want to see if they succeed (we dont want games to suck, we want good games), but I would have liked another story, another setting... Im not sure.
The footage was good and bad for me. The window crack and subsequent flooding looked really good. However, a big daddy with free will and using plasmids? I guess eventually it'll be revealed that you are just a regular joe in the suit.
