(I use this for relevancy reasons)
So this has been a while hasn't it, Dtoid? Well late with all my work done I get crazy ideas, ideas that could work so I decide to ask your guys to be my starting point. Let me explain my friends.
I am a youngster who when I listen to people on Dtoid or other places talk about retro games I get lost. So to rectify this problem I want to start something I would like to call "Retro-Rollercoaster" (I will do this because now I have free time) which will be me writing a blog by-weekly (bi- or by- don't really know) on a retro game I have never played and I will conical my journey in the blog.
This is where I need/want your help. Either recommend game and I will either take it into account or I will just start at the beginning with Mario. (Before N64 is all fair game) Try to keep the games available on the Virtual Console or any of the other download services.
Sorry this is kind of short but the other ones will have more meat in them.
Madninja away....
I proceeded to make her a "Best of Music" CD that stuff from ever style, classical, punk, pop, jazz, etc. I ended up making 8 more in the series, and I of course didn't come close to really summing up the "Best of Music".
So yeah, I don't know what to tell you. My top ten NES, TG-16, Genesis, and SNES games lists in my profile might help, but probably not.
Good luck!
You need to play River City Ransom.
You may want to play Super Dodge Ball.
Is Guardian Legend available on VC? You should probably hit that for flavor.
You ever play Bonk? Get a Bonk game. 1 and 2 are good, but I'd personally pick 2 for looks and nicer level design, IIRC.
Street Of Rage: takes around an hour
Revenge of Shinobi: dunno how long it takes I only mentioned this because it was part of the megagames 2 compilation I used to play :D)
I know it sounds horrible and impossible, but I will try my darnest!
@Everyone else
Thank you for the suggestions, keep them coming!
Here are my VC picks..
Blazing Lasers ★★★★

Bubble Bobble ★★★★
(Original Game/Arcade or WiiWare)
F-Zero ★★★★

Kid Icarus ☆★★★
(It is pretty difficult)
Kirby's Adventure ★★★★
Legend of Kage ☆★★★
(Arcade version is better, IMO)
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past
★★★★
Metroid ★★★★
(Pretty difficult)
Punch-Out!! ☆★★★
(It gets only 3 stars coz on VC it is the Mr. Dream version)
R-Type ★★★★
Super Fantasy Zone ☆★★★
Super Mario World ★★★★
World Heroes ☆★★★
(Humorous NEO-GEO fighting)..
The best thing about retro gaming is there's always plenty more games out there to find!
And since it looks like you've got a Wii (with the mention of the Virtual Console), go find a copy of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube.
And if you're lucky, look for the Zelda Collector's Disc for the GC, which has the first two NES games, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask.
As for NES games I recommend Shatterhand, Batman and the original Zelda.
Also Final Fight and U.N. Squadron are cool games for the SNES.
