Oh Cliff, Oh Cliff why must you do this to me? Well in a recent interview with IGN Cliff Bleszinski, developer over at Epic and king of games, said some backhanded words to a game close to a lot of peoples hearts (mine included). Read what he said:
“Metal Gear Solid is our example of the game we’re not doing. Passive entertainment is on its way out.”
And I can say yes, Solid Snake is not pumping steroids into himself every second to smash some alien bad-guys. Now serious talk, I will agree with him that Metal Gear Solid is not a game Epic should ever make because well you have to have some Kojima crazy in you to make a game like Metal Gear Solid.
We may be taking his words out of context and that is for you guys to decide.

While I'd prefer if games brought MGS' level of narrative focus in a much more interactive manner, really almost none have. We're getting there, but until GoW has ingame gameplay mindfucks and interior character exploration (or even in their cutscenes for that matter...yesh) I'll take possessing arms and bisexual vampires, thank you very much.
Don't really know if I feel comfortable paying $59.99 for an expansion.

..You get to fucking use Metal Gear Rex to battle against Metal Gear Ray at Shadow Moses in, possibly, the -best- mech fight in a video game ever. That fucking segment could be a game unto itself; I saved a separate file so I can replay that segment whenever I want, fuck... that was so good. I am simply waiting for MGO to include a Metal Gear mode....*splooge*

He always did have a knack for pointing out the obvious.
but it doesnt matter since we expect epic to come up with powerhouse games while Kojima's group comes up with intricate stories. I also doubt Cliffy boy was taking a shot at MGS4. I doubt he'd sabotage reputation with sensationalism like that.
Then again, I play RPGs primarily, so I like passive.
It's sad to hear that CliffyB doesn't agree. GoW is almost intolerably corny. Awful, generic story and character designs.
