Microsoft is still reeling in its recent defeat... Or they are just lying, either way it seems that there are orders for the manufacturing of blu-ray drives for the 360. Congrats 360, now if you can fix that RRoD
or if you're too lazy:
"For all of Microsoft's denial, the Xbox 360 Blu-ray console rumors just will not die. In fact, they are getting more and more specific. The Chinese language Economic Daily News is reporting that Pegatron, an OEM subsidiary of ASUS, has won the order from Microsoft to assemble the Xbox 360 with Blu-ray Disc ROM drive -- shipments are expected to being in Q3 of this year. Now come on Microsoft, just come clean on the matter, we won't tell anyone." by Thomas Ricker, May 2, 2008 @ 2:12 am
I don’t ever see MS putting 360 games on Blu-ray Discs, but I could see them putting out an add-on drive for $150 or something so the 360 would play Blu-ray movies.
Personally, I think they should just do it as an add-on. Also, I don't care because I have a PS3 :).
Also, let's say that they do start building 360's with blu-ray drives, that doesn't mean they are going to start putting games on blu-ray discs. They can still put them on DVDs with no problems. They would be stupid to start putting games on blu-ray disc unless they were going to buy me and everyone else who has bought a 360 a new one.
it annoys me that I keep reading they are going to put blu-ray in, and use it for games. People that actually think that are stupid and ill-informed in business.
add-on FTW, and will not buy. I don't need a full collection of add-ons :P
I know what everyone wants this xmas....
A NEW BLU RAY ADD ON THAT WILL RROD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only does it look like shit as an add on, BUT IT WILL BREAK WOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCITED!!!!
I have to ask if you preferred HD-DVD or are opposed to HD films in general? I haven't found much to dislike about watching movies on Blu-ray yet, but perhaps I need to be educated.
I wonder what the cost will be or if Microsoft will have to pay a licensing fee to Sony to allow it to go into XBOX. I know blu-ray drives for the PC are about $100 I wonder what it will cost for the XBOX?

about me
I am Gargamel. I am a seemingly limited wizard and a bunglar at best. Depsite my wizardry I cannot outwit 3-inched small blue people nor outrun them... And according to the picture I have acute parkinson's disease... and I wear the same black robe everyday...sweet... I don't game, I hunt for Smurfs despite the fact they will eventually all die out - cause they're asexual. They can't reproduce. Ya, that means no expected Smurfette gang-bang. Its as smooth as a Barbie down there... But I don't care its what I do - my hobby. I am the Jack Thompson of smurfs \o/

This will happen when pigs fly.
I'm still skeptical on this.
I think it will happen, but as a add-on, but it could be an internal drive that reads dvd9 and blu-ray.

Yeah. Probably an add-on but they'll never release 360 games on Blu-Ray.
Also, what "recent defeat" are you referring to? HD-DVD?
what everyone said.

If it does happen it'll probably be only for movies, putting games on it will alienate the early adopters.
yessir, hd-dvd, i think its def plausible for a blue-ray add on
LOL..add-ons FTW!
Fuck your Microsoft. You got me once with the HD-DVD add-on and that's your last chance.
Speaking of which...I might need to buy an extra add-on just in case the one I have dies or something.
Plausible, maybe, but not likely.
Besides, MS seems to be going in the digital distribution direction anywho.
Anybody wanna tell my why MS would bother with something like this?
I believed everything you said when I saw the $ in Micro$oft. Did you come up with that?
LOL @maxVest
Never gonna happen. Trust me. Rumours are rumours.
blu-ray add on, wiimote add on--- whats that i smell in the air? is that... a hint of desperation? :)
I kid, I kid... it was just too much to resist!
...you do know HD-DVDs were Toshiba and not Microsoft?
Microsoft just backed it with a add-on. Seeing it wasn't set in stone that HD DVDs would end up staying around. Just sayin.
Either way, When people get a PS3, kinda comes obsolete to have a blu ray add on.
Yeah. It'll be an add-on and it'll be another HD movie disc accessory that I'll happily ignore. I can't stand watching movies in blu-ray.

It's not going in the console. Add-on only makes sense.
