1) You totally want the 60. Backwards compatibility, bells and whistles.
The HD is swappable, buy any 3.5" HD and it slides right in. Easier than teh buttsecks!
2) Rumor is we will have teh 40GB model for $399 come HaloLaunch or shortly after, perhaps announced at teh TGS this week. Keep your eyes peeled.
3) You may be n00b, but teh PS3 is good choice. Games R Gud. Get teh Warcocks, it is super fun, then come and play with Dtoid peeps on Wednesdays.
4) Don't forget teh Resistance. It is also fun. Also recommended: VF5 (if you're a fighting fan), flOw if you're an indy games fan, SPF2:THDR, Heavenly Sword (buy if you're a ga-ga God of War fan, otherwise rent), and don't forget the HDTV for pretty colors.

Yeah that's true but if you knew you could install linux and was planning on doing so, you wouldn't be asking which system you should get.
so now there's no compatability with the 60gb anymore? that is horrid!!!
