I'm curious if people know just because the company is based in America that doesn't mean everything IN THE DAMN THING comes from here, because I can guarantee you it doesn't.
On a personal note, people calling in to cancel an order for that reason means they should stop using everything else made in foreign countries. Have them check their houses, if they gave all the foreign stuff up they'd be living in an empty house. Hell most of the electronics in our fighter planes are outsourced. Why? Survey says....its cheaper. America is not a "production" nation anymore its a consumer nation.
It's simply because the Xbox 360 is already portrayed positively in the Media, The Wii is untouchable, due to it's family friendly, green image. The PS3 is "the bad guy", It's going to get slated for every mistake, and to be praised, it's going to have to do something outstanding, such as LittleBigPlanet or Metal Gear Solid 4. Where as the Xbox can churn out mediocre games and benefit from good press.
That's what will ultimately decide the winner this generation.
It's because the PS3 has bad hardware architecture and is incredibly difficult to develop for. It's inaccessible to a lot of developers, therefore has the lease amount of games out of the three consoles. Which is precisely why the first 2 were such successes (because they both had huge and diverse game libraries.)
My opinion on the matter is that PS3 is doing so well just because it's riding on the name of it's predecessors.
I gotta go with messer on this one, he pretty much nailed it.
Hmmm, I had decided to buy another next-gen system (to complement my Wii) last December. I immediately decided to get a 360. Thankfully Best Buy was out of stock at the time (I had gift cards there). I went back home and made a comprehensive list about the strengths and weaknesses of both the 360 and the PS3. It turned out that I much preferred the PS3, so I got one and have been extremely satisfied with it ever since.
I doubt the 360 is made in the USA. Shoddy hardware like that says one thing: Made in China. Or Thailand. Or something.
PS3 SUX NO GAEMS
Yeah, Messer has a good point. It's nice to see they're taking steps to improve their relations with developers, so hopefully it won't be too little too late. I love my ps3 and would hate to see it go down this go-round.
The PS3 is really a win-lose system. For the consumer it is a great system to have. That might not have been true in January, but now there are quute a few good games coming out for the system. It has MGS4, LPB, and Valkyria Chronicles. It also has lots of treat games that are alos on the 360. I feel that the PSN is also of much better quality than XBLA. It simply does not have all the garbage that Microsoft allows onto their system every week.
But devs say that the developing for the PS3 is a very challenging process. Accommodating for all those Cell Processors and whatnot. John Blow, developer of Braid even listed that as a reason for not bringing his game to the PSN. It would just cost too much money for the him to pay programmers to change all his code.
Really the only reason I bought a PS3 was because I already had a 360, and I wanted to play MGS4. Now I use it mostly to catch up on old PS3 RPGs.
Oh, the PS3 also doesn't have the Doritos Masterpice.
No, it doesn't have Doritos Masterpiece, but what it does have it does well.
I own both a ps3 and a 360 and find it hard to choose between each system when I get a new game, but I always seem to lean towards my ps3 when it's a cross-platform title.
I just hope that new ad is the sign of life from Sony we've been looking for. (It's the ad with the PSN occuring over people's t-shirts. Pretty clever and wel-done actually)
