Sonic 4 has the worst level in history

Watch that video. It is probably the most painfully bad levels I've seen in a long time. SEGA apparently doesn't want to make a game that doesn't have a gimmick so bad that it's painful.

There are other videos located here that look better, but this level has made me think that SEGA really just can't make a good Sonic game anymore. It's just a fundamental design philosophy that games aren't allowed to be good, and they have to have over-complicated and poorly designed gimmicks.

The rest of the game may be brilliant, but this isn't exactly filling me with confidence, and I'm a huge Sonic nut.

Wow that looked really disorienting and possibly break the flow of the entire game.

HOWEVER if it makes the rumored price point of $5 I'm still picking it up and fortunately it's episodic so with enough patented Nerd Raeg this'll be excluded from future episodes assuming it's really that broken to begin with.

I was kind of hoping when I came in that it was just the rotating special stage, and not the main gameplay. That there was nothing to worry about. I was wrong.

honestly, that doesn't look so bad to me... but after having watched the videos, my new gripe is how close the camera is to sonic. seriously, back dat screen up, sonnn.

Agreed, It would at worst be slightly annoying, why don't they give someone who knows how to play video games the controller and then record it.

They definitely made that level for Wiimote use and kept it in the PS3 and Xbox versions. I'm not blaming this on the Wii though considering SEGA should know by now that when people ask for a plain Sonic game with no extras they're not asking for THE WORST GIMMICK LEVEL IN THE WORLD. After so many years of crap like Sonic and The Black Knight or Sonic and The Secret Rings I can spot a bad "Tilt the remote!" level a mile away.

This is ridiculous! It would actually be easier and cheaper JUST TO MAKE A SONIC GAME rather than any of this shit. People are giving SEGA the thumbs-up to reuse old Sonic games design and mechanics and just milk the franchise a little bit better than they were before but no they just have to do... THIS!

Jesus Christ SEGA. Are you that adamant to ruin your own games?

It doesn't look THAT bad, but it doesn't look good either. Bummer.

I'm still buying it, though. It'll drive me crazy if I don't actually play this game myself, even if I'm going to be disappointed.

Looks to me more like the guy playing doesn't know what he's doing. Looks like he's making it look way harder than it is.

I came in thinking "oh, that's just pessimism."
Then I actually watched the terrible video.

The player seems to have no idea what he's doing whatsoever but even if he did play it halfway decently, it still seems like a silly gimmick to me.

Why do I have to tilt the screen? Why not just make normal cart levels like in Donkey Kong Country? I can't imagine how terrible those levels would have been if I had to press L and R to move the screen around.
