About Me
Hmmm, my hardcoreness.

Well awesome gaming bible EDGE magazine once said that you're a hardcore gamer if you own a Neo Geo console. Well I have a Neo Geo Pocket colour. Does that count?

Guess I should list a gaming system history/list/thing to fill 5 minutes of my day.

in autobiographical order (although many of these were played earlier this is the order I got my own)

ZX Spectrum 48k
Amiga 500
Game Boy
Game Gear
Amiga 1200
Mega Drive
Playstation
Game Boy Colour
Dreamcast
Snes
Nes
Master System
Neo Geo Pocket Colour
Sega Saturn
Game Boy Advance
Playstation 2
Xbox
Game Boy Advance sp
Nintendo DS
Xbox 360
Wii
PSP
Playstation 3

Right, I think that's everything. That was boring.

Vagrant Story video I spent 2 days trying to get to upload to Gametrailers

I made a blog earlier about my video posting woes with Gametrailers. To follow from that, and after much persaverance, the video finally uploaded. It is the opening sequence and first 12 minutes of gameplay from PSOne classic Vagrant Story.

There was only ever one thing that disappointed me with this game. The blatant false advertising. I mean, where are all the vagrants? When a game makes a promise of a tramp based story I want it to deliver!

Other than that it was one of the best PSone games ever made and I reckon it deserves a sequel.

Enjoi!

Your mom is the tramp?

I watched my bro play this a little but then I never saw it again. I remember the whole "target" body parts theme and what not....

man i miss playing opening scence while the credits are still going.. I always get into the game more when they do that.. Till Kingdom hearts came out and the first 3 hours of the game was only the start of the game..

Damn...I want to play this again, but my chipped PS1 is sitting at a friend's house and I sold my chipped PS2...ARG!! Anyone know a good place to find a used copy of this classic?

Ya know I have not seen a copy of Vagrant Story in the shops since it came out. And we have Gamestation here in the UK that dedicates almost as much space to retro games as they do new ones. Hell I even got Vandal Hearts 2 and Secret of Mana from my local one. I reckon Ebay might be your only bet.

VS is the best example of a PS1 game that actually looks better with the oft-forgotten "texture smoothing" option activated in the ps2 menu.

Yeah true that. You'll notice I used it. Although I couldn't get the quick loading to work with the game.

Man I loved this game. It was my first PSOne game that I owned and somehow it has gone missing. I guess I'm going to have to start searching some stores again for it.

And I agree with the first post. Ashley's pants did always make me wonder why they did that.

It was your first PSone game? A little late to the party weren't you. Awesome game to start with though. My first PSone game was Twisted metal world tour. I actually got it 2 weeks before i got my PSone which was bought off a catalogue so it was in the mail.

Yes, I was late to the Playstation party and it is still the only Playstation I own. I ordered it from a gaming company that specialized in older equipment. So I ordered it and took a chance on VS. Loved every minute of it.

I've never played more than 3 hours of it. I guess the battle system drove me mad. My wife however just started replaying it a bit ago, I think she's beaten it 2 or 3 times.

I think the main issue with the battle system is that it makes no effort to explain any of it to you. You really have to go into the menus and read the tutorial. I never got past a part in a forest but that was years ago. I've recently restarted the game and I'm in a mine area.

I reckon if they remade it the battle system would need a tutorial at the start and maybe a little tweaking. Like say letting you expand the battle spheres thing whilst moving so you can judge when you're close enough to an enemy easier.

Still an amazing, if a little too hardcore piece of RPG loveliness.

I remember that fucking forest. You had to do very specific turns in it. I somehow got through it, but it took me forever to do so.

I think that's why I gave up. I'm sure I fought that dragon that keeps coming back for an arse kicking but after that I got lost.
