I've been apart of Xbox live for about 3 years now. I have several friends online. We like to play co-op, and multi-player games, and sometimes just use GTA 4 as a chat room. One thing I really like about having friends online is you can see what they are playing and what games they have played. Seeing as you can do this I still don't understand why people will just send random game invites to a different game. I really can't stand that shit. When I'm playing Saints Row 2, that means I wanted to play Saints Row 2. Sending me an invite to GOW 2. That pisses me off because I don't even have the game. it feels like I'm being taunted, like when I was a kid and the other kids would ride up to my house and ask me if I wanted to go bike riding, but they knew I didn't have a bike. But back to the present. They send me invites and then I'm an asshole for not responding. It doesn't take much to just send a message asking if I want to play. I would gladly respond. But when they go for the quick method, they get the long fuck you back. If I wanted a friend to join me in an online game i would send them a message asking when they are going to be finished with their game, and I check their list of game s played to make sure they have it. All I'm asking is go the extra step, its not hard, and it will save time in the long run.
I actually like that people send random invites. A lot of the time, yes, I'm wrapped up in what I'm doing and I'd rather not be bothered. In that case I send a quick text back saying "Maybe later." But one of the draws of XBox Live for me is the interaction with friends, so if I'm slogging through the single player campaign of Gears and somebody invites me to play some Call of Duty, I'll gladly get to the next checkpoint and join up with 'em.
I'm not opposed to having the option to block invites for games you're not playing or haven't played, but if the option existed, I wouldn't activate it.
i don't mind getting invites, it just seems lazy to just hit invite to game, and then keep doing it if the person doesn't join. It's almost like being at a friends house playing games and another friend shows up with tickets to a game and says lets go. But really my real complaint was the fact that everyone else but me has the game and they keep inviting me. It's like asking a friend to play catch when both of his arms are broken and you know it. it's just honked up.
Here's a tip it will solve your whiny problem here.
Before you play a game sign in under your Tag, then with quickness move to the back of your console, unplug the Ethernet cord. OH WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!. Your stupid friends will no longer bother you and you are free to move about the country. Stop posting whines, this type of blog belongs in the facets of Facebook.

about me
Well hello. My name is Ron, and yes i'm a nerd. Always have been always will be. Video games are my life. Without them i would probably be, I don't know outside playing sports, or doing something "constructive". I play action, adventure, survival horror, first person shooters, and just about anything else to raise my achievement score. At one point I was really big into rpgs, mainly the more obscure American releases. Now I prefer games that I can play in short bursts without having to worry about a long story to remember. And by short bursts I mean 4 -5 hours. I am an achievement whore. Can't stop won't stop. I like too many games, but if I had to choose a favorite I would have to say Dead Rising. On a hard day nothing brings a smile to my face quite like running over hundreds of the undead in a car, with the hood down. Then hoping out and killing more with my mega buster.
When I'm not playing games, I'm either on Myspace screwing around there, on Facebook screwing around there, or with friends. I enjoy going to the movies, hanging out, and going on adventures. Movies take up the second largest chunk of my life. I have a very odd taste in movies. mainly if the movie has something I really like or enjoy I label it as good. This is why I like movies like Daredevil, The One, House of the Dead, etc. But my friends trust my advice on films for the most part. If i don't like it you know it's bad. I'm actually in the process of trying to buy every single video game based movie. I'm only missing a few. Hopefully Hollywood keeps on crapping them out.
Now all that crap I take in from movies and games isn't wasted. I actually have a very good imagination. My only downfall is i need motivation to use it. One day i will find my calling in this world. Until then I'm going to keep raising my achievement score until Microsoft has no choice but to acknowledge me and give me a cookie.

I like invites because it shows my friends actually care.
Wat
It's probably because Gears 2 has the "invite all" button when you view your friends list.
I like getting invites. They make me feel special.
