http://kotaku.com/5010548/microsoft-to-start-pulling-underperforming-titles-from-live-arcade

Ok now seriously, this must be the most retarded stupidest idea ever.

Now Microsoft is the richest company in the world, so don't tell me that they can't afford server space for those games, when Nintendo can afford loads of space for Wiiware games, while Wii online is free.

Yes I guess I will never be allowed to work on a Microsoft platform ever, once I've wrote this, but at this point I don't care.

They know how much it costed for those guys who created those games (even if they suck), oki now for example a game like Cloning Cylde costed 300 000$ to make. So most XBLA titles costed around that ammount, so what if they didn't sell as much, the developers had to pay the ESRB and all other loads of costs, that's just well heartless and mean, and to be honest a complete fachist move.

I feel bad for all those developers whose games are going to get taken down, I mean Microsoft should compensate them.

It's like for example you release a game on Wii and then Nintendo is like after a few months, oh no you aren't allowed to sell that game anymore on our system, FUCK OFF.
Now Nintendo would never do that, since well they have more brains.

I don't want to bash Microsoft, but well no wonder all the devs I talk to consider XBLA shit and going Wiiware.

There is nothing more to say but well if anyone notices the console that always wins is the one with the most games (even if most are shit), I don't remember who told me this great true statement.

I mean this is just kicking out indies again, by offering them horrible royalties and then just focusing on BIG companies.

And yes this is true, I know alot of indies that Microsoft have treated badly so now they all went Wiiware.

Just shit, how can a company be so stupid? Seriously? I mean all those developers even if they did average games before, they could do a hit one day, and just well tell Microsoft to fuck off, and never do any games on their systems again.

No one knew Grand Theft Auto was going to become this big, at first GTA titles weren't that popular or great.

Yep, also I would like to add, all developers would normally never say anything, by doing this I am shooting myself in the foot and probably will be blacklisted. But hey I don't give a fuck, I still have PC and Nintendo :D

I bet they're removing games to make space for remakes/ large classic games (GTA anymone?) But I do agree with you. They can fucking afford it.

Well, I've always sort of doubted Microsoft's interest in gaming as a medium.

Business between caring about money and having some artistic integrity. This is just another example that many at Microsoft weigh too far on the money side of that balance.

They sould start lowering the prices of underperforming games. That would boost sales.

MS is making a move towards a full digidistrro system - this is just the first step in action. And honestly, if Yaris goes, nobody will cry. They already got paid by Toyota.

what is it with you blogging on what just became front page news?

well anyway, I kinda agree and kinda don't. With games like Yaris, take that shit off. But I'd hate to download a game, play it, then hop on my 360 one day to see it's not even there anymore. why? cause Microsoft decided to get rid of it. I do agree Microsoft have the money. But they're just like any American, too cheap to dish out more.

it's fine though, I really plan to go back to Sony and shut up.

@ Shin Oni

Then why can't any European deal out tips like resonable people do? shit, I worked in London, and I made less that 20 GBP in six months in tips. I used to make more than that in a week at a shitty coffee shop in California.

I think the question we should all be asking...Who the hell rode Microsoft's wang enough to think Metacritic is the end-all gaming site? If Nintendo prohibited games with a 65 or less Metacritic from selling on stores, they'd be out of business already.
Oh well..at least we know the GTA IV content can cost 1600 points.

fascist?

And yeah, it's yet another asshole move from MS.

Man, I'm not sure where I stand on this. On one side, yeah it really sucks for some of the devs, but on the otherside it's sort of Darwinian, Kongregate does the same sort of thing.
Mind you the cost of developing for Kongregate's way the hell cheaper.

Meh, the world sucks. I'm sure in a few years I'll be trying to hack it out at an indie and joining on the angry rants.

This has nothing to do with server space and everything to do with cleaning up their mess of a store, because they don't know how to make it fucking navigable.

Yeah, I'm with Wedge on this. XBLA is a pain in the ass from the standpoint of having to sift through a huge list of crap to find the game you want.

If sales numbers of a retail game slow down, they're either reduced in price or pulled from the shelves and sent back to the distributor. It's the same principle.

Granted, if they found a better way to organize stuff, this probably wouldn't be an issue. But, then again, it's also a good idea to keep quality standards high and, if things aren't selling, perhaps they need to go.

dont mind reaprar, hes just the worlds biggest troll.

Also, even if MS could afford the servers, it is just their lame excuse to clean XBL since theres too many games that haven't passed some sort of QA test.

I bet a lot of this is to clear out a lot of the shitty remakes that they flooded XBLA with in the beginning, but the idea of this can be very scary for people trying to take risks with games.

Yeah I don't think anyone cares that Yaris will be gone, but for a dev that really tried and it just didnt work for whatever reason: that's pretty scary.

I haven't found too many XBLA games that have done it for me anyway.
