Why don't people get it?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243470

it seems seriously that some people just don't get the point.

I've studied world war 2 for a long time, and yes I see this game as a educational game, so it will prevent children growing up being racist or having bad thoughts.

People don't understand really do they?

The videogame media needs to also put out messages. God...

How is it going to evolve if the games are just about space marines shooting aliens?

I believe it's the new media to put messages threw.

And it's not going to have any holocaust scenes in it!!! It's about a child during the war who uses his imagination to escape the horros... god, the screens are just going to show history details...

god the film media can do it, why can't games?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

What? I guess I missed something.

I think games can be educational as long as they're still entertaining. I think that people going to see a holocaust movie expect different things than someone who goes to play a holocaust game. If I were to play this game, I wouldn't mind learning about the setting or the holocaust or whatever, but I would still want to have fun.
The thing I don't like about that thread is that they seem to be judging the game based on a few screens... not exactly the best thing to do.

The story can work I guess, but the facts, as some people have stated, are just not necessary.

Also, where'd you get those pics? Someone edited the swastikas out of them.

..."and his style is so damn generic"

What. the. fuck.

For now, I'd say just ignore them until the game's out. Half of the posters were idiots.

OH, you're the one making this... my bad. Either way, no matter how this game plays I'll probably get it for the story alone. Game stories are getting bland and this one's actually interesting

I wouldn't worry about it. Your games seem to be aimed at artsy or creative people. Most of the people that troll forums and bitch about games they haven't played wouldn't be interested in your games anyway.

A lot of people envy you Luc. You are 21 years old and you are getting to make video games. That is enough to make them hate you right there.

Plus, your girlfriend is hot.

Don't pay attention to these armchair critics who haven't even played your games yet.

I for one think that the facts you provide on the bottom screen in "Imagination is the only escape" are totally necessary for the game to have the impact that it should.

It's easier to come up with reasons to hate on a game than it is to praise it.

yeah it's dumb how people just jump the gun like that, but on the other hand its cool that they are having a debate about what the game is.

Just keep doing what you're doing, Luc.

"I hate them too, but even those at least don't tend to have random history lessons taking up the bottom screen. To me this seems almost like edutainment in the vein of Mario's Time Machine: something left much better to a history book, where there's no "game" interfering with people getting to the messages that the developer seems so intent on expressing."
This was the first response to Jon's post.
So Luc, do you want to respond to this in any way shape or form?

why bother replying to them,I would just leave them in your dust,
open minded gamers will find out the truth by playing your games :)

thing is. gamers don't want to learn fact blatantly. they rather get it in small discrete amounts. subliminal learning! :D

Truthfully Luc, when you do something really different people are ALWAYS gonna be there to bash you. People don't like new things, they are scared of them. If you care about this game (and I think you do) just ignore those people and do what you want to do.

Because some people are idiots, and those same idiots seem to also inhabit the media and the government. Until we stop covering over everything to 'protect the chilluns' we are just creating a fabricated world where we hide everything within a bubble. Its human nature to want to deny the horror that is life, but that ideaology will just lead us to disaster when the shit hits the fan once more. The idea of a child wanting to escape the horror of the war through imagination is a brilliant concept and i for one am looking forward to your game with interest. Im currently working on an animation where a man deals with the 'horror' of his everyday life through forming a bond with his courage to overcome his fear. At the end he turns into a bird and jumps out the window of his work office. I cant wait for the 'suicide camp' of people to see it, because its not about suicide in the slightest.

Because people are fucking stupid, that's why they don't get it, they see something that's challenging them in other ways, ways that don't involve stomping on things or shooting the other guy.

I'm afraid to say that your game probably won't do that well, not because of its quality but because 90% of gamers are narrow minded retards who as you say in your topic title, don't get it and they won't.

Now, if your game was about a boy takes up arms against his nazi captors and you have to fight your way out of a camp in a bloody fashion, then your game would sell millions.

The game looks great, don't take everything personal and you'll be fine =). I know a lot of people that would be interested in this, but also a lot that would go "meh" on it =/.

Anyway, keep up the good work!
