Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
maybe?
It's a shame but the way things are :(
I just want more PSN stuff, they have by far the best platform and model for indie developers it would seem.
Profits I'm assuming.
Here's hoping that indie developers will be able to find some awesome new uses for that Wiimote.
Wiiware won't be as successful as you think because many members of the Wii's audience does even go online with the system.
Also, the Virtual Console is a hurdle for an indie developer. Try convincing the average person to buy an indie developed title or a proven Mario title. Wiiware may not be as great as you are hoping it is.
I hope WiiWare turns out good, nintendo seem to be ballsing evrything else up recently.
This is a very good topic btw to the OP.
Microsoft takes more of your profit when they publish it for you.
Luce was using the VC to combat you comment onsaying that no one goes online with Wii, which they obviously do. And since the WiiWare will be intergrated into the Wii shop channel, just as VC is, there's a good chance it will get noticed. You don't have to follow a project to buy it. People will be spending $5-10 on a game, not $30-60. People tend to gamble more with smaller amounts.
No they don't, the top selling games on XBL are proven things like UNO, TMNT and other old arcade ports, only one "indie" game got a ton of downloads which was Aegis wing and that game was free.
I agree with glove, you guys sorely underestimate Wiiware and its appeal to Nintendo's audience, what do you think the average Wii consumer will go for, a proven title like a Mario game or some unknown title that he's never heard off.
I also echo gamegoblin's sentiment, you don't like XBLA, we get it.
I think it may depend on how Nintendo markets it.
You're comparing 2 totaly different markets, and you basically ignored teh jist of my post. Way to go and be ignorant.
Way to be a moron kiddo.
On of the reasons you do not see a great deal of third party support for the Wii is the simple fact that your games have to compete with Nintendo for a share of the market. Even on the Wiiware, your game is going up against Dr. Mario and other small Nintendo projects.
Of course, the Wii is going to win the "console war". People will always buy cheap things. But they do not buy cheap thing that they may seem as risky.
You're obviously an idiot. Casual != Hardcore ololololo.
Wii is OBVIOUSLY a very different market to XBLA. Stop generalising.
