I like my Zune. It's sturdy, the screen is amazingly clear and has been getting pretty decent battery life even with watching movies on it. I'd say the software's better than iTunes, too. Sadly, I don't know how it compares to a regular iPod as I've only owned a Shuffle previously.
I say get an Ipod classic! 160GB's FTW! :D
but is the zune louder or equally loud as an ipod since i play my songs loud?
Get the iPod Classic. Just got home from BB with an 80GB...it fucking rocks.
I think between the zune or the ipod i'd go with ipod. even tho their software sux. I just saw the classic yesterday and liked it alot, I might buy one on my b-day
It's loud enough that I regularly turn it up all the way and don't even bother with the earbuds.
its called a DAP get it right.
You have a small MP3 player, so I assume you don't want some 5000 gig harddrive with a screen.
I picked up for myself an 8 gig Sansa, and I don't regret it for a minute. Larger screen, better menu system, build in FM radio and voice and radio recorder (though only at a bitrate of 32, so dialogue only!). The only problem is that you don't have the ease of use with Itunes, but you can use Best Buy rhapsody as your player and its nearly identical. The price is good too--I've seen it go for below $200 I think in Best Buy flyers. Pick up the action jacket, or else the screen scratches to hell, like all the MP3 players.
Creative Zen is the best Mp3 player on the market, but if you're looking for loudness, stick with the iPod.
I've got a 2 Gb Sansa that I got from a woot-off and I love it. If you don't need to be carrying around 3 days worth of music, the Sansa is pretty good, and the better models also accept microSD cards.
if you don't really care all that much just scour dealsucker.com you can usually find a 30G zune or comparable ipod for $150.
I've stuck with ipod and been happy for over 4 years now. I feel no need to change yet.
They're not the innovators, necessarily, but they have a decent warranty and they're popular so it's well supported with accessories. If you're happy with the nano, stick with Apple. If you want something new, try the Zune out, though I suspect you'll end up not liking the software as much (I didn't.)
Agreed, Zune's software sucks. I downloaded it just to try it out, and it fucked with all of my ID3 tags. Changing album covers and whatnot.
i love my zune hardware. zune software can suck a donkey dick. iPods suck (i own a 4G 20 GB and a 60GB Video as well as a shuffle...all presents)
I'd go with the recently announced Sansa View. They come in either 8GB or 16GB for $149.99 and 199.99 respectively.
Creative Zen V Plus.
As much as I hate ipods I bought an Ipod Touch and as an mp3 player it is great. As a laptop its even better. No I swear get a touch jailbreak it and its the best pda/laptop replacement I have ever used.
