As far as I'm aware, the best way to take in-game screenshots that in games that don't have a programmed screenshot feature is to use a capture card that goes through a PC. From there you can take screenshots, however it's a pretty pricey way just to take screenshots.
There is a cheaper way to do it than Sweishiee's solution.
If you play the game through Steam, press F12 at any point while you are playing, and Steam will capture a screenshot for you. When you exit the game,a Steam window showing all your screenshots will appear. You can press F12 many times while on the game, and Steam will save as many screenshots you want.
If your game isn't a Steam game though, the process is a bit more complicated.
1) While playing press Printscreen key on your keyboard.
2) Exit the game to go back to desktop screen.
3) Open Microsoft Paint.
4) Click "paste". The screenshot will appear inside Paint's window.
5) Click "save" and save it.

If it's from a video, like in VLC or WMP, a simple PrtScn won't work. Instead press CTRL+I and you'll be able to save a capture.
If you want more quality in WMP do this:
1) Click Tools then Options.
2) Then Performance.
3) Click the Advanced button.
4) Go to Video Acceleration Settings and uncheck "Use Overlays"
5) Click okay, then click Apply, say Yes if prompted, and then Ok in the Options window.
Then print screen at your leisure.

There are devices designed specifically for capturing video and screenshots from consoles, like this one from Roxio. Go to Amazon and search for "recorder video console game", a bunch of different devices will come up (many quite expensive, though).
If you have a capture card of some sort in your PC, though, you might find solutions that are cheaper, though, as some of the guys are describing above.
