Resident Evil 5 was released here on my country last March 07, 2009. it's Region 3 and in my opinion, has a better looking cover than the North American Release.
I won't write a review or what-not, just going to offer some facts about the game.
- RE5 has 6 chapters, broken up into 16 segments
-Weapons are picked up first in-game, THEN can be bought for 2000, 4000 etc. subcategories (which is a bit weird)
- 3 Difficulty Levels at the start (Easy, Normal and Veteran)
- Splitscreen confirmed
- NO new control scheme (only Controls A, B, C, D)
-Files and other backstories regarding the cast and History of Resident Evil can be read at the Library
-Mercenaries Mode confirmed
-NO MERCHANT
-Inventory is locked at 9 slots for each player
- Lots of additional bonuses at the Bonus Features menu:
- 30 BSAA Medallions to be found scattered throughout the game, which then:
- Lets you buy bonus contents depending on medallions found
-Action Figures can be bought (3D models of characters in-game to be scrutinized and examined by the masses)
-When you max out weapon statistics, you can then purchase its corresponding unlimited ammo at the Bonus Features menu for free BUT you still have to finish the game first
-LOTS of other Bonus Contents I still haven't unlocked
Now for a little bit of my opinion:
-The Game is GREAT. If you liked RE4, you'll like this. BUT, the game slightly deviates from its predecessor; by becoming a little bit new, they unconsciously became a little bit out of focused on what they want RE5 to become. Case in point: Chapter 4. When I played it, I felt like I was playing a Tomb Raider Game, with all its Incan/ Mayan puzzles. Still, good stuff is still good stuff.
-Game is REALLY REALLY GOOD when played at a higher difficulty AT THE START with a buddy or loved one. It really amps up the pressure and stress levels.
-Weapons are good to handle BUT, I really miss the item management (briefcase) and gun descriptions on RE4. It felt like the NEW developers wanted RE5 to be played as an arcade game: Faster Pacing, no Micromanagement other than your inventories.
To sum it up, RE5 met my expectations of what a sequel to RE4 should be, although not as highly as it Could Have Been, and although it felt like it tried to find its own identity but stumbled in trying, its still a greatly produced, greatly made sequel to one of the greatest game of all time.
Great Game.
I can't decide whether I want this game or not
Also, loading times are often; in between segments, BUT, it does not last more than a minute and when in real-time gameplay, there's no loading whatsoever. Its more like MGS4's technique in their own loading process.
Game is Great, on my last chapter, (chapter 6), and its still intense. can't wait to try merc mode. Still, its not THAT great, when RE4 just came out, but for me, having bought Killzone 2 just at the same time I bought RE5, Killzone 2 is at a "waiting stage" right now; Im not playing it cause im too busy at RE.
Still WAY, WAY better than games being released right now.
Note:it also has a huge replay value, you will definitely play it again, with friends or by yourself, after you finish it.
So yeah, I hate you.
Happy to hear you're enjoying it though.
Friday...
Friday! Can't wait!
Nice read, btw...
( In Comparison to the "Region 1" art. )
I'm glad you're enjoying it...
*DO WANT!*
