I've never truly been a fan of Mother's Day. after all, it's a fake holiday created by greeting card companies to make money. However, this year's Mother's Day has an extra reason for my displeasure: it is the first Mother's Day since my mother's death.
Sometime in the late morning or early afternoon of March 27th, my mother passed away unexpectedly. I missed the call from my uncle which would have informed me, so I didn't know about her death until 8:30 that night. I was the last person in my family to know.
It happened during my school's spring break, and I did not take any time off from school. All of my teachers were informed before school started on the first day after break. My physics teacher told me I shouldn't have come to school that day.
My mother and I never had a great relationship. Since this is my first Mother's Day without a mother, I want to take this time to apologize to my mother for the way I treated her. I moved out of her house about 6 months before her death, and during those 6 months, I treated her horribly. She died at a time when I was trying to get her out of my life, and I'll never be able to forgive myself. I'm sorry, mom.

My mother passed of cancer back in 2006, so I know exactly where you're at man. I'm sure she understands as well. Happy Mother's day to you and your mom, Kwaselow.

Just try to remember the good times and don't start regretting what you should or should not have done.
And Michi, go die in a fire.

Kwas, there is no need to beat yourself up over this. I am sure that your mother would not what you to think like that. To you and everyone else here, happy Mother's Day.

Anyway, there are no normal families so don't beat yourself up over any troubles in the past. We've all felt like we've been shitty teenage sons at some point, or maybe we will. Even if your relationship with her wasn't the best, I'm sure she loved you and still does. It sucks you never got the chance to make things right at the last moment, but life's not a movie :(
If anything, you can make it up to her by being a good person in general, or being a good father if you ever want kids. Never forget the past, but never dwell on it or let it control you either.

I think that you mother loves you and she would prefer that you move forward and try your best not to let her death or your past mistakes keep you down. Learn from them.

Moreover, DToiders, Mother's day isn't the only day we say to our mothers how much we love them. They don't wait for any son's day to give birth to us and take care for us. Mother's day is good for giving flowers or dedicate the day to our mothers, but it's the everyday acts of appreciation that makes them happy and ready to do more for us.
Happy mother's day

@michiyoyoshiku: I disagree, the responses were pretty appropriate. It's hard to imagine what kind of a person would have thought posting that was a good idea.

You dumb fucking cunt, just STFU.
I'd have to say I completely agree with what Pew said. That type of relationship is typical, but you shouldn't regret anything you did in the past. I'm sure your mother loved you nontheless, and she still loves you now.

Kwaselow, I’m really sorry to hear this. Now, of course, it makes sense why you were away from Dtoid for a while, and I’m sad that it was for something like this as opposed to lighter circumstances (or at least, something of your choosing). Like Professor Pew said, I’m sure your mother cared for you until the very end, and though you weren’t able to make things right before she passed, you can always make up for it going forward. Keep your chin up, buddy...

She made some statue or something in honor of her mom, and then it got popular, and then it was declared a national holiday.
And THEN it was too commercialized and she got arrested for protesting about how commercialized it was.
It might not be true though, I haven't checked wikipedia.
