I know Go! Retroforce Go! recently did a show about franchises that should be brought back, but this one didn't make the cut. It's surprising that it didn't make the cut, because in a recent post of mine
about how Kirby is an underappreciated IP everybody mentioned how underappreciated this franchise is. I'm speaking, of course, about
Gex.
Franchise Information
Last Game: Gex 3:Deep Cover Gecko (1998; PS1, N64, GBC)
Series Developer: Crystal Dynamics Note: First game was developed by Beam Software (now known as Krome Studios Melbourne) but was published by Crystal Dynamics
Developer's most recent game: Tomb Raider: Anniversary (If you need the date and systems, you also need to wear a helmet around the house)
Miscellaneous: Gex was used as the mascot for Crystal Dynamics
The Gex series was a series of 3D platform games (the first was 2D) known for it's sense of humor. The game revolved around Gex's love of TV, and levels represented different TV genres. Just as Banjo and Kazooie collect jiggies to advance to new levels, Gex collects remotes. Power-ups were in the form of bugs that Gex would eat. Depending on the level (in teh 3D games), Gex would speak different catchphrases (that were actually pretty funny. Example from an outer space level: "Has anyone seen Fox Mulder's sister).
Why the franchise died
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's because the N64 ports sucked donkey balls.
Why it should be brought back
Go ahead, read the comments left on the post I linked to at the beginning. There's demand for a series revival, and truth be told, I wouldn't mind having him back.
You need to bring back Punky Skunk XD.
Why must you always try to debunk my arguments with statements that don't actually disprove them?
