I just witnessed one of the greatest games in sports history (may be a slight exaggeration). Turkey and Croatia just finished playing their Quarterfinal match for Euro 2008, one would clinch their first semifinal appearance in the tournament ever.

I didn't have a lot riding on the game, I didn't particularly care who won because I knew Germany would beat the winner in the next game. However I watched anyway...all 130 minutes of it.
With Turkey and Croatia trading near goals (Croatia came within inches with one attempt) during the regulation time they went into extra time with a 0-0 tie. The Turks seemed to be giving up at the end of the second half.
With the start of extra time, though, they went straight on the offensive, getting in more than 5 shots in the first 15 minute extra time period. The second period slowed down considerably, with both sides preparing for penalty kicks. However in 119 Croatia scored when the Turks' goalie came out and conceded a header. The game was over. However in two previous games the Turks had come back from a deficit to win the game, the latest being against Czech Republic to clinch their Quarterfinal spot. They did it again, with seconds left on the clock the Turks' goalie kicks a last ditch free kick up to the top, a player receives it and takes a WILD shot and puts it right in the upper corner of the net.

After that the Turks dominated, only needing 3 shots to win in penalty kicks. I literally almost ran around my house when both goals were scored, truly and amazing game. I swear the Turks have black magic on their side to come back and win 3 games in a row. If you missed this game I feel sorry for you, it was one hell of a ride.

It was epic, I know.

The epicness was enhanced when I realized the goal was 3 seconds out of the injury time they gave.

Man next time it is going to be hard to choose whether to cheer for germany or turkey.

The first 110 minutes were pretty lame though.

But us Germans shouldn't underestimate the Turks now, because they have a lot of passion.

@PARAPARAKING:I watched germany's game yesterday in a café with a friend,we were the only ones for germany so we had to keep it low :)

I would say that the Germans should be afraid of the Turks but I don't see the Turks keeping up the play they have had missing 3 starters and having played so hard the past 3 games.

Incredible, not the best game over 120 mins, but christ what an ending.

Damn those Turks definitely give people value for money (and heart conditions!)

i was stunned. my sis was for croatia cause of the hot guys (wtf) but i think the kroatian trainer was the best trainer there. i really like the guy.hope he has a good future.

but all this doesnt matter cause the dutch are gonna win the final anyway. (touch wood)

I was so pissed i was in a pub but the people I was with chose the moment penalties started to move on to the next pub arghhhh!

still it was another insane turkey victory but I do feel Germany have enough experience to insure they go through.

For me Holland vs Spain is still the 'real' final.

Nice to get some surprises like that in Euro 08. It proves the point that a game is never over, til the final whistle blows.

I think either Spain or Holland will win in the end too.

I wonder how the Turkish keep doing this. The opposing team looks to have won, then Turkey come back in a seemingly minute amount of time left on the clock.

I guess the fact that has happened twice before this match has given them the belief to overcome the urge the drop their heads when staring defeat in the face.

Although hopefully, it won't be that much of a cliffhanger in the end and more like a 5-0 destruction.
