endings that moved you (no spoilers damn you!)
kawitchate | 5:54 AM on 08.30.2007 13 comments

so, i just got done watching the seventh installment of the Final Fantasy retrospective that's running over on gametrailers where they covered FFX and X-2 and after watching it i immediately jumped over to youtube to watch the ending of FFX again.

and i was moved.

physically? ah, no. that would be quite the ending to move me physically. no, i was moved emotionally.

Final Fantasy X has, in my opinion, the most moving ending i have ever experienced in a video game. it's a combination of the music, what is said, what isn't said, and of course what happens. they could have ended it on the hand slap/tag-in and i would have been fine (and no that's not a spoiler - you would have NO idea what i'm talking about unless you've seen it).

other endings that have moved me?

- Kingdom Hearts
- Kingdom Hearts II
- Shadow of the Colossus

endings i was probably moved by but can't exactly remember?

- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- Final Fantasy VI
- Chrono Trigger

so i put the question to you: what's the most moving ending(s) you've experienced? and please, NO SPOILERS. the title says no spoilers - don't make a liar.

who cries for the spoilers? we do...

Ninja Gaiden NES, Mega Man 2 NES, Final Fantasy II and III SNES, Earthbound SNES, Y's I and & II TG-16, Final Fantast IX PS1, LoZL Twilight Princess Wii, and that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more.

I never got through Final Fantasy X and X-2, or the Kingdom Hearts games. I bought them all, wnated to like them, and jsut got bored after the first 2 hours.

But Shadow of the Colossus was huge win.

I haven't beaten it but at one point in Baten Kaitos I was just like...what? Are you cereal?

I felt betrayed and a little sad. Does that work?

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say:

- Secret of Mana
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Bioshock (Little Sister Saviour ending)
- Lufia 2

LoZ: Twilight Princess was pretty bad. I hated Midna at the end. Why Midna WHY!?

I was also extremely moved when I won the Superbowl in Madden 1995 on my SNES. When the confetti came down and the trophy popped on the screen it was magic. Oh Shit... did I spoil it?

Have to agree with Shawn, Secret of Mana was one of my favorite endings. Of course Chrono Trigger ranks up there with FF VI.

Yeah, beating the dog-shit out of Lavos in Chrono Trigger and seeing the "Beyond Time" ending was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had in gaming.

Zelda: OoT was great too.

I really liked the ending for Final Fantasy 9, that's really one of the only endings I can remember starting to mist up. It was pretty much the proverbial "happy ending" (not that kind..), which I tend to be sickened by, but the whole game had such a classic/nostalgic feel to it that it fit really well.

Also Dragon Quest 8's true ending, another really happy ending that I was a sucker for.

there've only been a couple that have actually moved me... Final Fantasy X was the first one that ever did. the next one (this one actually made me tear up a bit) was Zone of the Enders... holy shit that game was amazing... and it made me tear up at several points too! not just the ending!!!

after Zone of the Enders came Zone of the Enders 2, which also made me tear up. the latest game was ICO. not the ending of ICO, however, but a certain part in the middle which i won't talk about incase i spoil.
