I pretty much figured that's what it meant, for Gold subscribers to have to pay nothing at all for Netflix film viewing seems pretty far-fetched.
my dad does, so i'll be getting in on this, funny thing is he just bought a netflix Roku player, which does the same thing... DOH!
Yup... but the plans that offer the Watch Instantly feature start at $8.99, and IMO it's totally worth it. There's a shitload of movies and TV shows you can stream.
I've been using Blockbuster online and have debated switching to Netflix for a little while. This would actually convince me, and give me a reason to renew Gold as well.
Thanks for some clarification.. We were wondering if it would be included as part of Gold, or not.
The fact that you need Gold for this is
A - utter bullshit AND
B - enough incentive added to gold that demos should be released the same day for silver accounts going forward.
If you don't already have Netflix, get it now. It's amazing.
Alex... except for not.
Netflix is a waste anymore if you don't watch more that 10 movies a month.. and how many people do that.. or have the time for that.
In the past 9 months or so, I've been seening "Red Box" stations pop up all over the place. And, to be honest, are much better and quicker, and CHEAPER, than any other service.
Red Box movies are $1.07 a night. That's it. You rent a movie, watch it, return it within 24 hours. Granted it doesn't have 50 million movies like stores do, but it does have all the latest releases, and they are usually in stock.
this sounds like a good deal, would be a nicer deal if xbox gold users got a special deal on netflix membership. Having netflix, i watch tons of movies on my computer screen, and can easily hook it up to my Tv, so i dont see the huge advantage of being able to watch it on a 360, am i missing something?
Netflix got pornos?
@ 311grassr00ts: It's a good thing for 360 owners who can't easily hook their PCs up to their TV, which is probably the majority of them. :)
@mxyzptlk- good point, that makes sense, i think this is a pretty sweet deal, microsoft definately has the advantage so far on media entertainment on the console (minus HD DVD fiasco) which is strange when sony is pushing so hard for the "complete entertainment center"
@trailerparkjesus- netflix acutally answers this question, here it is-
We have made a business decision not to carry these types of titles.
sorry
:(
I was really looking forward to this coming to coming to the ps3 but it looks like my dreams were again smashed by sony being anal and believing that they came up with ideas to do something thats already been done... and done again...
sounds great if you already have netflix and gold membership... otherwise, netflix would need to pump up some good movies on instant watch (they're working on it) and having to be a gold member is a load of horse manure... you'll barely be using the xbox network as netflix already has the engine & bandwidth built in... but somone's gotta pay =/... suckers...
so looks like the computer stays hooked up to the tv since i cant watch netflix on my mac either...
WHY... cant we all just get along... =(
Anyone know the quality of the streaming titles? Is it above, below, or about par with DVD standards?
I do believe I'm the only person who still has this in their reply watch thing, so I'm the only one who can answer you here.
And I have no idea, but you could probably ask in the forums.
w0rd. thanks!
