Killer Instinct 3?

Above is a Christmas card from Rare. It's the first time we've seen Banjo and Kazooie in a while, but what's interesting about the pic is the KI3 stocking. Although Rare has stated they're not working on Killer Instinct 3, this new photo hints to the possibility. Weather or not this is proof of an actual third installment to a classic game has yet to be determined. I assume it's up to the fans to decide, so you be the judge.

I would buy ANY system to get KI3. The Killer Instinct games are completely (and unfairly) underrated (except Gold, that was pretty crap), and I think the universe is ready for a totally badass third installment.

prefferably the ps3 as I like its dpad more... and less online lag, but 360 does have live... ugh... make it for both and I'll have to shoot myself >< penny arcade hinted that KI was coming to the 360 YEARS ago... so... here's hoping
even an hd remake would be fine.

Killer Instinct will fuck your shit up. I rented this game consistently from Blockbuster video because my parents were to broke-ass to buy me it. The ironic part is, looking back, for the amount paid in rentals it probably would have been cheaper to just buy the fucking game in the first place.

Unfortunately, this is just fanservice. Rare has already publicly stated (in connection with this pic) that due to contractual restraints, they aren't working on KI3. I remember months (maybe a year or so) back that they had the same reply to this question except it was phrased more like "If Nintendo let us" leading me to believe that Nintendo actually has some right to the name or some exclusive deal where they'd have to publish it. Maybe joint custody between them and Rare.

i think the contractual obligation is that they have to make the characters in Killer Instinct 3 sickeningly cutesy and bright, and create a kids spin-off show.

They're also contractually obligated to fill the characters with sweets...
