The good stuff comes later if you're here for that, use
context clues to find it lol. Otherwise read my mini-review of the concert I saw.
Ok. I admit it. That concert was a hell of a lot of fun. For one of my friends who didn't exactly dig the music, he had a great time just looking at the smattering of different types of people present at the show. For the rest of us, we were thoroughly entertained for quite some time.
The night began slow; we missed the train that would get us to the show early, so we caught only the last 2 bands of the night (only cared about seeing F-pop anyway). Whatever. It gave us extra time at my place to rock out to some Rock Band, so we didn't complain.
Then we met an awesomely hilarious homeless dude while waiting for the next train 2 hours later (damn cold out tonight).
But the concert itself was fun. The venue was standard small-scale with 2 floors. We wandered around looking for bathrooms, then settled in on a location on the 2nd floor looking directly down on the stage. Boy in Static came out (boring/interesting simultaneously) and played a fairly short set. The only neat part of BiS's show came from the crowd itself upstairs at the venue. My companions and I noticed that 2 of the Freezepop members (Liz E and Sean D) were upstairs with us just hanging out watching the show. Liz kept staring at my group as if to dare us to recognize her or something.
Then
Freezepop came out. They played a few songs from their newer CDs, but not their best songs. On a side note, Liz was wearing a fairly low-cut dress, leaving her chestal area with a lot of display and us with an interesting view. People walking by us stopped to lean over the railing, comment on her large bust size and then kept walking; made for a hilarious evening.
Now for the interesting part.
As the set progressed, we all knew the videogame songs would play soon, but first we all had to ask where the Duke of Pannekoeken (the band member that is also an employee at Harmonix Studios) was that evening. We were informed that he was busy working on a project at work (HMX most likely). When the crowd still murmured about that (confusion), Sean told us all that he couldn't tell us what the project was, but that it was
*something 2*. Instantly, Liz tells him that he's probably just said more than he should have, and the band moved on instantly to a song. Interesting.
They played Science Genius Girl (Frequency), Less Talk More Rokk (GH2), Stakeout (DDR something mix), and Brainpower (Rock Band), so all of the game nerds were mostly satisfied with hearing 4/5 F-Pop Videogame songs (minus Sprode from XBM demo disc, since it's not "legit"). They ended with amazing covers of Final Countdown and Don't Stop Believin' (woo Journey). All in all it was a great night of fun for my group.
But most importantly,
what is this sequel that we were informed of??? Harmonix has stated before that RB is supposed to be a platform, not like the cashwhoring of the Guitar Hero franchise, so that only leaves a couple of options for sequelled games.
Here's my list of possible *something 2*'s HMX may have
Rock Band 2 -- I'd hate to think they were liars about the "platform" idea for RB
Frequency 2/Amplitude 2 -- More likely Amplitude 2 (XBLA, PSN game mayhaps?)
Eye Toy Antigrav 2 -- unlikely due to the musical nature of the Freezepop member and the code requirement for a game like this
Karaoke Revolution 2 -- Another unlikely option
Phase 2 -- Essentially a dumbed down Amplitude/GH, but see Antigrav description
Amplitude 2. There. I said it. My world would be complete with this game in existence. Sony professed love for this game before and really wanted it to succeed, but it didn't for some reason. With DLC, this game could really shine, since, when you think about it, Rock Band is kind of a stripped down version of Amplitude/Freq. Instead of playing everything, RB just controls the main 3 instruments and vocals. Amp 2 could succeed now, given the legitimacy of the music game genre thanks to Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
I can't wait. Let the hype begin!

And the floor was where it was at. When Sean came down to the audience I was standing right next to him. People where jumping up and down and the floor felt like a big trampoline.
Going to see the Flavor Savers again on the 26th. They were that good. My ears will have stopped ringing by then too.

Also, why is Sprode "not legit"? It was in Amplitude, no?

Also, btw, I don't think Boy in Static is normally part of the band (actually, Boy in Static is just the guy that played violin if you want to be really specific). I think "Freezepop" is probably normally considered just the 3 of them (Liz Enthusiasm, the Duke, and Seanny D), but in concert they need a separate drummer (instead of just putting together a drum loop for a studio recording) and, if the Duke can't come, someone to fill in for him too.
