My relationship with games can be compared to a series of one-night stands. With the occasional no strings attached semi-serious relationship. Call it fear of commitment, or just good old fashioned A.D.D., but for some reason I always have a hard time committing to anything I start. It really bothers me, because I get myself worked up over a game and when I’m nearly half way through, life finds a way to disconnect the power cord and pull me back into the suck fest that is my daily routine, the daunting day and all the priorities attached. Perhaps I don’t know how to prioritize, or maybe I get to restless and need a change of pace. What ever the case, now is the time for a revolution.
I’m tired of being just a casual gamer, if I can even call myself that. It’s just the mediocrity of the name and my insatiable thirst for perfection that often goes unquenched. I think if I really devoted myself and cut off the lesser things in life, like homework and personal maintenance, I would have ample time to devote to gaming. Are perfect hair and a 4.0 really that important? The answer is no, especially when you have the capability to escape the weeds of the day and plug yourself into a game where you can exist in your own little fantasy world.
Try to help me out in my hectic transition. Josh will definately be a big help, but everyone else's input means alot as well.
Thanks for welcoming me into this fantastic community, hope to get to know everybody soon!!

Also welcome and get yourself an avatar ASAP!
As for recommendations, I guess you should try different genres, even ones you might not have liked in the past or think you won't like, I got into rhythm by the end of 2006 and now that's probably what I play the most.
PS 4.0 and Perfect Hair are important, but so is not being a casual gamer. ;) Also, if you don't play, try the sims 2 for PC. You can make your sim have perfect hair and a 4.0 and you're still playing games. Plus I know it gets frustrating trying to maintain that GPA so you could always take "study breaks" and play a fighting game or some game where you just kill a bunch of things :)
Also, Who the fuck is this Josh kid? GTFO my internets.
booze
games
pizza
games games+pizza+booze
epic win
Just renounce sleep!
Easy.
thanks for the study advise sounds like a good plan, and i will play sims, i hadn't played that in ages.
yeah i don't think sleep is needed, just frequent naps. that should do it.
Also, sleep less is vital. Some of my finer gaming moments happened after 11:30pm.
Though be careful. My most epic fails (ie falling asleep during a group in WoW) have come somewhere around 2am . . .
As they say around these parts, welcome and don't suck.

Although I've been playing games all my life, I like shorter, more focused games that I can just jump into and play without having to stop and think and dredge around and get lost and get bored. You're not a casual gamer, you're just a smart gamer. (Also pretty :3). I saw a Natalie Dee comic today with a controller that had two buttons, "Run" and "Jump." The caption said "I just want to play games where I run and jump." I think that sums up my (and your) feelings on games. Do more with less, maybe? Simple is best? Or howabout, look at Portal. It's one of the most fun and original games ever created, and it's three hours long. THREE PERFECT HOURS LONG.
We do what we must, because we can.
Also great first post, a lot of intro posts could learn from this one.
