(This is slightly long.) So today I bought a new computer. I kinda missed my old computer that I spent $400 on, because I wanted to play Oblivion on it, which ended up dying or something. Im not really sure, but I think the video card fried on it. It was a GeForce 6600 GT AGP and was decent for the price at the time. I think.
Anyways, so here I am, having stayed away from PC gaming in favor of my Xbox 360 that I received for Christmas a couple of years ago (that was actually a different 360 actually due to RROD). Actually before I got my 360 I decided to stick with PC gaming, and told my parents that I didnt want one as much any more, but was surprised on Christmas day with one anyways.
So my pc died after a while so Ive been stuck with a crappy internet only piece of junk and have had to do my gaming on my 360. Which Ive been fine with for a couple years, though I have thought of getting a new comp several times before.
One of the main things I liked about gaming on the pc is the fact that you can mod games. For some reason, if there is something I dont like about a game and I can actually change it, Im going to change it. Mostly regarding attributes and stuff, not graphics or sound or anything.
Like the game Operation Flashpoint. I changed alot of things to my liking in that game, first starting with how things were named and crap and eventually weapon attributes. Of course all the data was borrowed (stolen) from other mods, but it didnt really matter since it wasnt anything they could prove. Hah.
Also, Oblivion I modded some as well. And Call of Duty 1 & 2. In fact I made a pretty decent sound mod for COD1 that used the Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far sounds. Too bad after all that work I deleted it. Ah well...
The other thing thats great about pcs is that the games are cheaper. Not only do new retail games start $10 less, but they seem to drop in price faster than console games. Im not sure if it has to do with people tending to buy console versions of multiplatform games more or what but saving a few dollars every time is always good, especially when one spends $300 a year on games.
But the best thing about pc games? Pirating. Aww yeah. Free games.
Just kidding.
Oh yeah the specs of mine pc:
XFX GeForce 8200 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz OEM Processor
Kingston 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 Memory
XFX GeForce 9600 GT Video Card - 512MB GDDR3
Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB Hard Drive
I think I might be the only person who has to actually quit a job since its conflicting with my other job.
Anyways, I bought Burnout Paradise last week since I had the urge to drive really fast around a city and not have to worry about cops and flying out of my car like in GTA IV. Also I was playing Mario Kart Wii at a friends place and was pretty bored with not only how slow the game was, but how lame the music was compared to the SNES game.
Also, Burnouts showtime mode is hilarious since your car is bouncing around and all the other cars are freaking out trying to get away from you.
And I just bought Ace Combat 6 from Target. It was like 21 dollars and I figured I might as well considering its like 30 bucks new at other places. And it doesnt look like I can get if for that cheap online unless I look really hard and I dont want to.
Oh yeah and I played the Resident Evil 5 demo last night coop for the first time. Its pretty much awesome. Im glad they give you the option of the 'newer' controls or the old Resident Evil 4 controls since I dont think theyre bad at all.
It was funny because my friend and I were actually playing the first level of Gears 2 and we couldnt pass the part where you are supposed the clear the hospital because there were like locust in the wall or something retarded so we just played the RE5 demo. Played Gears after Burnout Revenge was really weird too since in Revenge youre going 200 mph the entire time and you cant even see whats ahead of you sometimes, especially in split screen.
I drew it on the graffiti application on Facebook for a friends page, who did a simple "kill all commies" scribbling.
Also, Ninja Gaiden 2 just came in, which means... something.
Weird that the case has a cardboard sleeve. Also weird that the shipper guy just knocked on the door and left the package on the ground. This and not delivering on Saturday means I will never ever use DHL to ship anything ever.
sucking at the Lost Planet online demo makes me black.
I played against this guy and after raping me and two other guys in the demo (he somehow happened to always have the rocket launcher) he sent me a message saying
"haha niger"
I decided to play it safe and say something along the lines of
"i dont know how me getting owned makes me black but ok"
his reply was
"haha ok negro"
Another wierd happening was some time ago I was with three others playing some Halo 3 and in the pregame lobby said
"Youre all a bunch of Nigger lovers"
The Xbox is one that Ive had since January (after the one I had for a year died); its a Premium, nothing too special.
My computer just so happens to be the crappiest computer ever in terms of hardware reliability. In fact, Id rather have something that dies once and replace it (aka 360) than have something that crashes when it feels like it. I guess that might have to do with the fact I bought a $30 case for it and now the motherboard in sitting on top of a book as it leans against the inside.
Both monitors are Samsung, the black one on the left is a 17" and the white one is a 19". I used to only have the 17", so I would have to switch back and forth between PC and 360 with a cheap KVM switch.
Ive got a few PC games there (two, I mean) but I have all the others elsewhere; I dont play too many PC games these days.
I got my 360 back from Microsoft today. It makes me really glad because now I can play Halo 3 whenever I want, rather than waiting until my friends decide to get together.
Unfortunately recovering my gamertag takes like 8 years, but I did get another faceplate and 1 month of LIVE so I guess thats cool.
It actually came in a little earlier than I expected, since I thought I wouldnt get it until late this week. Sure its not 5 days like people have reported with Nintendo, but its still the 3 weeks Microsoft had told me, so thats nice.
I am my own friend, as you can see below. I play games that are awesome, usually involving three key things. 1) Guns, because they are awesome and loud, though thats not always the case in video games. 2) Explosions, because they are awesome and loud, though thats not always the case in video games. 3) Awesome, because it is awesome and loud, though thats not always the case in video games.
So I will not do for sports games. Havent played any in a real long time. Also, slow racing games are lame. Like Mario Kart Wii. Its like youre driving around at 5mph because there are children at play. Unlike Burnout, Revenge especially, which allows you to go 200mph, while crashing into things then blowing your car up. Awesome.
I have a fairly decent gaming PC and a Premium Xbox 360 in my possession; the former I spent $400 on, minus a monitor or OS and the latter I received as a Christmas present. I also have a GameCube which I also received for Christmas, but I dont have a TV in my room, so I can only play it through my computer, which doesnt always work.
I have a job, but dont work more than 10 hours a week. Actually I dont mind it, but hopefully there is work to be done fairly soon, because money is always good.
