Hey there my name is David Jenkins, I am currently 17 and live in California. I have been gaming from the start of three or so, I'd say. In my lifetime I have owned a NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PSP, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. So, as you can see I've done quite a bit of gaming in my time (I sound like an old geezer.) I plan on getting a PS3 in the near-future. (MGS4 and FFXIII, do want.)
Currently I am the managing editor for my newspaper at my school and have my own column dedicated to video games, such as reviews, previews, ect. It's pretty sweet, I hope to one day become a video game journalist and join this crazy industry.
Hmmm..I really don't know what else to say except for the fact that my favorite bands are Weezer and The Beatles, I may have a secret crush on Paul McCartney and Rivers Cuomo, shhhhhh.
Yep, that's it, if you want to know more about me then feel free to PM me. I'll try my best not to suck.
Games Currently playing:
-Gears of War 2
So, as I'm sure most of you know. There's this little game coming out next week called Metal Gear Solid 4. And up until this point I have resisted the urge to buy it. Now, it's not because I don't like the Metal Gear Solid series. In face, it's quite the opposite, it's actually one of my favorite video game franchises of all time ever since I started the playing the first on the good ol' PS1.
The main reason why I have been trying to hold off on buying it is, is well because...you kind of need this thing called a Playstation 3 in order to play. And sadly for me, I do not own one of these.
But after reading Maxios' recent blog. I got an idea. The idea is that I would sell my precious Wii. Now, I love my Wii, I really do. But you see, the problem is that it doesn't love me back in the same way. Hell, it doesn't love me at all. I bought the Wii on launch day, waited in line for the pre-order and everything, thinking that i was going to own a revolutionary console.
And I was right...sort of. It did revolutionize something, but not what I expected it would. What is it that it revolutionized you ask? Well...
This is what it revolutionized. In case you can't see it, that's old people playing the Wii. What the Wii did was change the mainstream market for video games. I mean, honestly when you can get my 87 year old grandpa to play video games then you've obviously done something right.
Now, I'm all fine with the way Nintendo is marketing the Wii with the whole "cool" kids now and days. But you see, I'm not a cool kid, I'm what you would call a "hardcore" gamer hence why I am on this site typing up this blog. So, after much disappointment with recent titles on the Wii I have finally come to this conclusion to sell my Wii. The only real games I actually still kind of play is Super Smash Brothers Brawl... and well, shit, that's it. I never even finished Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Galaxy.
If I had a choice on the other hand, I would not sell my Wii. But, in order to get my precious PS3 I must. I am only a 17 year old kid living in a suburb where nobody is hiring. And trust me, when I say nobody I mean nobody. And I get a cheap allowance so It'd take me an eternity to get the money for a PS3. So this is the choice I am making. I just hope this sacrafice will not be in vain. I know that MGS4 will be amazing to say the least. But, I'm just hoping that Sony doesn't continue sucking ass. They've definitely made a huge comeback over the past year but really need to step their game up in 2008, which I'm sure they will.
On that note, I hope to be getting the MGS4 PS3 80GB Bundle when it comes out the same day the game itself comes out. So expect me to be posting my PSN and what not for some good ol' FNF's. Anybody have some suggestions with some games that I should pick up with my PS3 (Though I probably can't pick any up the same day I get my PS3)? Also, does anybody know if I can pick up the PS3 if I go to a midnight launch of the game? Since I've read online and nobody seems to be offering pre-orders for the bundle.
- Picture unrelated, but it came up on the google search of "xbox live"
Yep, according to Kotaku and their super secret source, there is a list of new features for
the upcoming spring update on Xbox Live. Which if last year's update has any indication of
when it's supposed to be out then it should be out at any time now.
So yeah, that's it. Some key features that stand out for me? Mainly the four person private
chat function, which I believe should have been available from the very beginning. Also, the
option to download game data on the hard drive just like on the PS3, I just hope it's
optional. Other than that, it just seems like a lot of small features which seem nice, I just
hope this list is true.
P.S. Sorry for the lack of any decent posts. When I posted my first blog I thought I would
be more active but unfortunately some things came up which didn't give me any time to
post a decent blog. I hope to actually start up my blog for realz and make it tight and all
that cool shiz, ya dig? I have no idea what the fuck I just said. :)
Hey there, I can't say that I am new user here to good ol' dtoid, as I have been a lurker for quite sometime now and only now have decided to show myself and post my first blog. Let's get all the basic information out of the way (which most of it can be found on the right side of my blog). My name is David, I am 16 (soon to be 17 once Monday rolls around) and I currently live in California. (I'm not telling you the city I live in, pervs. yes Mr. Sadistic, I'm looking at you.)
See? I already feel like a stalker since I know so many people here, yet none of you even have the slightest idea of who I am, kind of creepy, but whatever. Let's see here, I have been gaming since, oh say around the age of three or so. My very first system was the NES (It was my dad's) I soon later upgraded to the SNES, yes I grew up with Nintendo and still am faithful to this day (even if they refuse to jump into the 21st century). However, I am far from being a fanboy, trust me. I currently own a Xbox 360 (currently in the shop), Nintendo Wii, PSP, DS, and my own custom-built PC rig. I plan on a getting a PS3 in the near-future (MGS4, fap).
I'd say that my favorite franchises would be Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Halo, Sonic (By a thin hair, trust me. C'mon Sonic Unleashed, don't suck), Mario, Zelda, Resident Evil, and Super Smash. Yup, as a gamer, I'd classify myself as hardcore, I suppose. I am pretty much open when it comes to game and really do not have a favorite "genre". Some of my favorite games of all time are Resident Evil 4, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VIII (I know, not VII ZOMG LOLZ), my secret jp-title only that Koobert recommended to me, On No Kujira Ham Soldier Sanwich and I'm too lazy to think of others.
My favorite movies would be Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Cloverfield, the Indiana Jones and Star Wars Series, just thought I'd add that in.
I really wanted to join on the day of dtoid's/Niero's b-day since that was a day full of such awesome, so maybe I could have sneaked in with my suckiness. But. I have been without an internet connection the past couple of days (I had to view it all on my iPhone's beautiful edge network). But, better late then never, right?
So, yeah I really cannot think of anything else to write about for my first post, only that I am glad to finally be part of dtoid community and I hope to get to know everybody better. I hope to participate in all of the community evens such as FNF and what not. So, yeah I'll try my best not to suck too badly, but I can't guarantee anything.
If you really want to know more about me, I have a little bit of more info that I plan on updating soon right over there --->
